Re: Dead or Alive 4?
I have no desire for a fighting game on a home console...i somewhat enjoy them in arcades once in a while, but the last game I played a good amount was Soul Calibur 2 at the small arcade on campus when in college. Just kinda grew out of fighting games, i'd play for a week then be done with it.Originally posted by fishepaI refuse to give in! Re: Dead or Alive 4?
Yeah same here with EB. I then stopped by Toys R Us and banked on 4 $10 games and I saw display cases for DOA4. The cashier told me they come in tomorrow.Originally posted by zekey55Just called Gamestop and EB and looks like its been pushed back to the 31st. Man this game is really pissin me off!
So if EB doesn't get it i'll buy it at TRU instead.Comment

Dead or Alive 4 Final Hands-On
By far her best-looking move has her shoving one of those blue-glowing plasma grenades into the opponent's stomach and then kicking the poor fool to the turf just before the grenade goes off.

"The actual online fighting is technically sound and impressive. Graphically, the game doesn't suffer in any noticeable way. The game looks and plays the same. Nintety-nine percent of my fights were totally lag free." - IGN

Re: Dead or Alive 4?
Why do people still play fighting games? Fighting games died with the arcade, they haven't offered anything to the genre in over 10 years. Its very tired genre, one that bores you after 10 min. I can see myself getting back into fighting games if some developer/publisher actually made a fighting game were damaged actually affected your style of play. Instead of the same BS health meter that drains but has no affect on your character. He/She still fights at the top of his/her game eventhough the meter is damn near empty.
I would like too see some degrading skills or handicapped moves i.e. if you are attacking a characters right leg, his kicks from that leg should be slow and does less damage. Fatigue should play a large role, after all that button mashing linking combos your fighter should be tired. Thus forcing the end user to change up his/her style.
Fighting games will still be the biggest button masher, until some fundamental changes are made in the paradigm of figthing games to a more skilled defensive, offensive chess match.
DOA, Tekken, and VF hasn't progressed from the PS1 days with the only exception, graphics and once you get past that(see first paragraph) that being said enjoy your game.Comment

Re: Dead or Alive 4?
I still love fighting games to death, while I agree there needs to be some changes (love your idea about leg demage and how it affects kicking strength) I still find fighting games challenging. While most fighting games can be a 'button mash' fest, games nowadays have advanced-counter attack systems to prevent this. I guess it's all a matter of opinion, but I'd do agree that there needs to be changes, but I disagree that the genre is dead.Originally posted by backbreakerWhy do people still play fighting games? Re: Dead or Alive 4?
It just depends on who you play with. Try to button mash against someone who knows what they are doing and you have no chance. They will reverse/counter you to death.Originally posted by NivekI still love fighting games to death, while I agree there needs to be some changes (love your idea about leg demage and how it affects kicking strength) I still find fighting games challenging. Exactly Virix, I love it when people use the same moves on me...just makes the KO's easier. Damn, Virix I haven't seen you on OS in a while, still remember those online team deathmatches we had in RB6.Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.Comment
