That was exactly my thinking when I decided against getting it... I was blown away by it when I first saw it... My buddy in the cubicle next to mine had it, and was continually trying to talk me into buying it... But I knew I was gonna be moving down to NC soon, so it was a wash... If I'd have stayed in NY, I could have justified it because I could play on the train to and from work, and there was usually enough downtime at work to play a game or watch some of a movie.... I couldn't make such justifications here, other than the random doctor's appointment.

The unit is only $14.99. The $30 one has the charger in it. The wiring did not look that great with that one, plus I did not need it. The unit looks deceiving from the picture because the psp slips into a clear case which only has the controls exposed. The handles are attached to the case and in the back is a bar you can flip out to make it sand upright on a table.

There is no danger of the PSP slipping out than?

Not at all! The clear plastic cover comes over the psp and locks to the bottom part of the case.

WOW. Then I may purchase one of these. I think that the PSP would feel more comfortable with a controller feel to it.

            Any disadvantages with this thing?

Using it to play is awesome. The only thing that may bother someone is turning the system off. I have to take it out of the case to turn the system off which is okay with me because I have a separate storage case. They do leave that area open where the switch is located but it is tough to get to with the grip there. Everything else with it is not a problem at all.

I hear they do, but just be careful not to brick your system.

If you just got it forget about the emulators they wont work. Sony doesnt sell ones with older firmwares anymore. They are hard to find.

It depends because there are stores still selling V 2.0 as of XMAS.

the hackers have now made it possible to DOWNGRADE your firmware version from 2.0+ to 1.5, thus allowing you to play emulators. Very cool indeed those tricky hackers!

I would do it, but don't want to mess up my system. I read that some people bought 2 systems, 1 for emus and 1 for regular games.

I recently downgraded my PSP. I was a nervous wreck while doing it, since I've heard about the bricking stories. I read the downgrade directions of a full day, and when it was all said and done, it was well worth it.

How do you play games that need the latest version? or you don't?
