Well...my 360 just crapped out! Help....

I was playing 2k6 online and the game froze. And now my 360 wont even turn on most of the time, and if it does finally boot up it freezes everywhere, even on the dashboard it will freeze.

For the guys that had defective 360's were these some of your symptoms?

Disconnect your power cable. Plug it back in and start it up again.

If it happens again it's your Xbox that's crapped out.

You need to get in contact with MS and they will send you a replacement.

From what I have read, yes these were some problems that people have experienced.

I got the eb 1 year warranty......

So who do I go through???

If I go through MS, wont that void my 1 year warranty???

But, if I go through eb will they even have a replacement system to give me??

I'd be pissed. Like I said to Buddy Knox last week, everytime I turn on my 360 I pray that nothing happens to it. Then while I play games like COD2 and NBA2K6, the 2 notorious games that people were playing when their system cluncked out makes me scared.

man i'm starting to think freezing is built into the 360 or something. even my new system started acting funky on day 1. it sometimes takes me 4 or 5 trys to get certain games to load because it will take me to the dvd screen and say that i need to play the game in my console for it to work properly. madden has frozen up on me as well. after going a week without one, i'm willing to just deal with these problems unless my system totally craps out again. i love the xbox 360, but as an actual product it's manufactured like a piece of ****.

Don't you automatically get a 90 day warranty from Microsoft when you buy the system? EB will never know if you got a replacement system.

I went to Eb. The guy said to go through MS, they will give me a new console. And then call him with my new serial # and he will swap it in my file. Therefor continuing my warranty with no problems.

Then I called MS and they're now sending me a box for me to put my 360 in and they will give me a new console. I also told him that the system had made a ring like scratch on 2k6. And they are now going to replace my game as well.

Lets just hope it dont take too long!

I must admit that even though it seems there a lot of problems with some of the 360s (I haven't had problems yet...knock on wood), Microsoft seems to have the customer service aspect of things down. I mean, they could be total a******* and make the customer pay for shipping and say oh, it scratched your disc? there's another 60 you gotta pay, sucks to be you. Know what I mean?
Yeah, it does suck that they rushed it and have so many defective consoles, but I've been impressed with their level of customer service that I've read about here the past 2 months.

yeah their customer service is top notch, their consoles just suck.

i've also been getting this error saying that my games might be in the wrong region which i know isn't the case. this stuff is killing me.

they have no choice. Poor customer service on defective consoles would just completely ruin any chance they have of keeping customer faith.

Nor have I (knocks on wood)... The only problem I ran into 2 times was my controller not turning the 360 on (probably interference from my wireless network or phones).

I'm not sure if there's something specific people are doing or if there are just this many faulty consoles - probably a combo of both. Anyhow, here's info on what I've done with my 360 and have had good luck so far:

- My 360 has been horizontal from day 1.
- It's in an entertainment center with ventilation all around it.
- The power brick is sitting on a shelf 2 shelves above the one my 360 is on (so it's not near my 360 - I heard the block heats up pretty bad).
- The longest I've left it on is for 3-4 hours and have never turned it back on until it cools off.
- Only games I've played are Kameo (very little), COD2 (a lot) and my girlfriend has played some arcade games.
- There's very little dust in my house - I clean a lot. So the 360 fan isn't sucking in tons of dust/dirt etc...

I think that's it... Just thought I'd toss that out there in case something helps someone out.
