What are everybody's power setting on there PC, I mean when your home and your using your PC and then you aren't using it anymore, do you turn it off or do you leave it on and just set your power settings. If you do what settings do you guys have your PC power settings set to?

      Re: PC question?

I work on the computer all day long so it's on all day long, but I shut it when I go to sleep. My monitor goes into standby in about 3 minutes (I'm using a 23" Samsung HDTV), but I don't set anything special on the computer itself.

I've never had any problems with my computers like that, but when I was at my lab at the University of Miami, we NEVER shut any computer for at least 3 years. A couple of hard drives went corrupt though, I just don't get it even though the Seagate people said it's no good to never shut a computer.

I just usually shut my monitor off, if it is on, its usually doing something so I don't want to turn it off.

You should restart every week or so if you leave it on all the time, it helps to clean up all the windows crap.

I leave mine running 24/7/365. Never had an issue.
