Hirai said that Sony had shipped 4,000 development kits for PlayStation 3 games. At the biggest game-industry conference in May 2005, developers had their hands on developmental kits for only few months.

Just read this i found it interesting they talk about evertything from release date to the blu-ray

Another analyst, Evan Wilson of Pacific Crest Securities, said "the most likely scenario" is that PS3 will be released in Japan this summer with about 1 million units and in the U.S. in November with 1 million units, followed by a European launch in March 2007.

My prediction was slated for November and if it is true that only 1 million is set for release here in the US, then you are going to see a huge shortage. Now I am happy that I have an Xbox 360.

There may be a shortage come release time but at least they would be starting with over 60% more inventory than Microsoft started with.

I am waiting for the Sony conference next month. We all know that everyone, including myself, has their own prediction on what it will cost and when it will come out.

The Sony conference is in February (on the 9th I think). Hopefully there we will hear something about launch date and price. They have done this before, being quiet until the sony conference, so I am waiting for that.

As long as the ones sent out aren't as bugged as the 360 and the PS2, then they could catch up more easily than Microsoft.

So true and Microsoft said the same thing PS3's will be in high demand in limited quanties just like the 360. At least Microsoft is bringing a new plant online that will get more units into the hands of gamers.

As soon as the preorder's start at EBgames for the PS3 i'm prepaying so i'll have one at launch.
