    Sony PS3 Live Service??

Sony has confirmed that it will offer a PlayStation 3 Live Service which will be similar to Microsoft Xbox Live.

Rumours have been spreading for months now regarding Sony's new online multiplayer service for the PS3. Sony has confirmed that the upcoming Sony PlayStation 3 will have a live service. Earlier speculations indicated that Sony had no plans for online PlayStation3 compatibilities.

The new PS3 video game console will include such a service which will allow gamers to communicate, compete, and participate in live in-game tournaments.

The Japanese game giant has begun distributing a questionnaire to gamers regarding console online gaming. The questions are asking whether or not people find online play fun, and what kind of features they might like to be included in the PS3's Live service.

Multiplayer on the PlayStation3 sounds awesome.

Where? Where did Sony confirm this?

Once again, I suspect, Sony revealed it's most intimate plans to Gameshout.com and only to Gameshout.com.

So far, that site has been absolutely wrong on everything it's reported on the PS3, and things like "Sony revealed" the PS3 release date to them - quite frankly, they're out-and-out falsehoods.

You guys should really stop believing everything you read.
Let's corroborate these stories before posting, shall we?

OK... but that's a loooooong way from "confirmation" of any sort.
Your thread's title indicates otherwise. Please be more discerning.

Rumors? We can all start rumors.

If this turns out to be false (we'll find out soon), then we should ban gameshout.com articles from this forum.

We should already ban the site's news. As I said before, they make stuff up and pretend it's news. If they are right, they broke the story, if wrong, then Sony lied or changed their mind. Horrible site.

Re: Sony confirms PS3 Live Service

Article seems kind of flaky. Just reading the quote in the first post, it seems backwards. It could be true still but Sony puts out the survey after the online is confirmed supposedly? Maybe I'm being too technical.

Yea, I'm starting not to like that site ethier. I'm positive they broke that story soley because those questionairs were being sent about. Its pretty obvious they report junk to get some hits.

Forget it, lets just ban that site now.

By the way, WTF is PS3 Live? Do you think Sony would blatantly rip off Microsoft's name for its service. Hows about we just close this thread and got it over with.

I think they just said PS3 Live service, if there really is one it won't be called that. Atleast you would think.

Re: Sony confirms PS3 Live Service

Alright, which one of you OSers wrote this on that site.

How does the existence of a questionnaire about a theoretical Live service confirm that there is, in fact, such a service planned? Where are the comments from people at Sony? Can anyone confirm this?

MS has spent a lot of years (and a lot of money) developing Xbox Live. Sony would have to do the same. And for the news of this live service to seep out via questionnaire (with no comment from the company, no less) just doesn't seem very credible. Surely someone inside the company would have leaked this or be willing to talk about it, namely because the existence of such a service for PS3 might prompt some Xbox 360 buyers to hold off on buying a console.

So until someone from Sony actually says there's gonna be a service similar to Xbox Live, maybe responsible Web journalists ought to refrain from running headlines like "Sony confirms PS3 Live Service."

                        Shawn, is that you?

To paraphrase a personal favorite of mine - there are two quotes that apply here:

                              1) "I could pull a better (news story) outta my... hey, hey!"
                              2) "I wouldn't touch that (site) with a ten-foot clown pole."
