Re: Anyone try one of those "fan stands"
"
* COOLS DOWN XBOX 360(TM)
* GIVES HARDWARE ADDED STABILITY WHEN STANDING
* EXTENDS THE LIFE OF THE SYSTEM’S HARDWARE BY OPERATING AT COOLER TEMPERATURES
* PROTECTS HEAT-SENSITITVE COMPONENTS IN SYSTEM"
The part about giving stability is a load of crap. The 360 vertical doesn't really need more stability. I have ran into my tv stand w/ the 360 standing on it and no problems. And , if the fan blows air into the 360 I'd be worried about more dust than necessary going in. If it blows air away from that's fine.
But I still don't need one

Re: Anyone try one of those "fan stands"
I have my system horizontal , but if this thing could help keep it cool I would move mine. I wish I could find some way to keep the back of the system cooler. I hav good ventalation and I raised the system up some to get air flow underneath it but the back still gets a little warm. Do the fans in the back pull air in and blow on the board or do they try and pull air out of the system to remove heat?

They blow out. Same as a computer.Originally posted by LionsFan20Do the fans in the back pull air in and blow on the board or do they try and pull air out of the system to remove heat?
Check to make sure both of your fans are blowing if it gets that warm. Mine is warm, but nothing out of the ordinary. My HD DVR gets almost as hot as my 360 so I'm not too concerned about it.Comment

Re: Anyone try one of those "fan stands"
Joeboo is right make sure both rear fans are turning in the back. I mentioned this before cause I read it on xbox.com where some systems would lose a fan and the machine would overheat and quit working.
It's normal for the machine to run between warm and borderline hot. I have my system horizontal well ventilated and raised and the machine feels like a hair dryer i.e. very warm. Never had a problem with my 360.Comment

by no means would I say my system gets hot. It does get warm and we all now computers hate heat, so I would like a way to keep the entire system cool. I will check my fans, thanks guys.
