    Re: 360 on HDTV

In case there is anyone here thinking about purchasing an HDTV. Over the weekend I went to Circuit City and they are having a zero financing sale on all tv's over $499. You just have to get approved for their card of course. All you have to do is make a minimum payment every month and have it paid off in 2 years before financing kicks in. So I picked up the 26" Samsung LCDTV and am using it for the 360 and as a pc monitor. If you plan on going to CC, check their online prices first before you go to the store. The in store price was about $200 more than the online price and they pricematched that with no problem. Good Luck and Happy Gaming!

      Re: 360 on HDTV

When hooking up the 360 to an HDTV I know you have to do the switch on the plug on the 360 but do you have to switch anything on the HDTV? I am watching some kids this week and they have a big screen so I thought I would bring the 360 over and see how big the difference is. Call me stupid or whatever, but I can't see really any difference but dont know if I am hooking it up wrong or if I have to do something on the TV to make it work. I do notice a difference when it is on display in the store but not on the other TV. Please help!!!!

You still need to change the resolution of the 360 in the display area..

You aren't stupid, just uninformed..Turn on the 360 flip through the differnt pages till you reach system. (Its the last page) theres console setting. Click it & choose between 720p & 1080i.. Try both to see which one you prefer..

Proof that technology can be something of a mixed blessing:

I was at Circuit City a while back, and they had an HD setup showing an episode of PTI. Kornheiser and Wilbon in hi-def is not a pretty sight...

                Re: 360 on HDTV

Quick question on the, 360 on HDTV, subject. I have a small 26 inch HDTV because thats what I could afford and it says its capable of 480P, 720P, and 1080i. I originally set the 360's setting to 720P and have used that on all of my games since launch. I noticed that while playing NBA 2K6 it could seem sluggish/laggy at times but I brushed it aside because it didn't really effect the game any. Then I was messing around the other day and tried out 1080i and it seemed to fix the problem. Now I've heard of HDTV's having to upconvert and causing "lag" so to speak, but why would 720P only cause that to happen with NBA 2K6 and none of the other games that I own?

No, Samsung is one of the top 3 HDTV's you can have from all the research I did prior to buying an HDTV. Perhaps there is just a particular weird thing about it though in regards to a certain mode or something. Just play in 1080i, it's better than 720p anyways.

If you have a CRT set, you should have your 360 set to 1080i anyway, as that is the native HD resolution of all CRT sets. 720p obviously works for you too, but it does have to be scaled, and that could be causing the lag you saw.

I have the 32" Aquos in my office. I love it. 360 looks great on it. HD programming looks great on it. If you're looking for a TV in that size range, I highly recommend the Aquos.

Also have the 50" Samsung DLP, highly recommend that TV for people looking for a larger TV.
