Sorry to hear they let you go DJ. Your right man things should pick up pretty quick for the industry. Microsoft's new plant goes online within 4-6 weeks maybe sooner. So more next-gen systems will start rolling out.

The Revo and the PS3 later this year will also help alot. Who knows you could get a call back to EA.

For the curious, these are the games I worked on:

      TP 2000
      TP 2001
      TP Baseball
      TP 2002
      MVP 2003
      MVP 2004
      NHL 2005
      MVP 2005
      NHL 06
      MVP NCAA 06
Great job man on NHL2004, MVP05 and MVP 06! DrJ would you happen to know if EA is working on another Nascar PC game?

Thanks to everybody for the kind words. Unluckily for me, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time (though when I was hired in 1999, I was in the right place at the right time, so I guess it all evens out). This industry is cyclical, so I expect/hope to be back at EA or a competitor once there's an upswing of sales in the marketplace, if not sooner. Unfortunately, I can no longer answer any MVP-related questions, though truth to tell, most relevant ones have already been asked and answered anyway.

I will tell you one amusing (to me, anyway) anecdote about "Jon Dowd". As you guys know, we used Kuiper and Krukow, the Giants' announcers, for the last couple MVP MLB games. The way I heard it, they'd occasionally razz you-know-who (#25 on the Giants) with "Hey, I hear Jon Dowd's having a better season than you" kind of thing. Eventually, they got me to autograph a couple baseballs, which I signed, "To Barry, Keep on Slugging! Best wishes, Jon Dowd". Supposedly, you-know-who received the signed baseballs and got a laugh out of it, though of course I only heard this second-hand. But if you ever see one of those balls on eBay, lemme know, will you?

Anyway, I want to wish the best of luck to my buddies left behind at EA (including Trey, whose poker money I still intend on taking every week). And big thanks to everyone on the OS boards. I pretty much have to stay out of the game forums for the time being, but I'll probably show up to rant/argue on the Hockey boards occasionally (it's what Canadians do best). Cheers!
