Will the 360 Price Drop?

I was wondering if Microsoft had any plans of dropping the price of the 360 when the Ps3 drops. That also would be a huge blow to Sony if their consoles are at 499 and Microsoft drops theirs to 349 or 299!!!!! That certainly would turn my head. How aboout you

My guess on a 360 price drop....

If the PS3 retails for 400, then you'll see a 360 price drop.
If the PS3 retails for 500, then you won't see a price drop.

MS would be hawking their Premium Package for 400 (HD, wireless remote, head set) while Sony is selling their unit at 500 (more than likely HD-less).

As long as sony doesn't match MS price for price, then you won't see a price drop until sometime in 2007.

What i'd like before a price drop is a price drop on the Games, but it probably won't happen. i hope like crazy the rumor of games on the PS3 being 70 bucks (due to blue ray discs) isn't true. This isn't the Nintendo 64.

So what do you do about the Revolution coming in at 250-300 bucks?
For someone that doesn't own a next gen system, do you get the PS3, 360, or Rev?

This is going to be a crazy Fall '06 for the gaming industry.

That'd kind of be like saying... "Our product is cheaper than the other guys (in quality)" You don't want that.

Yep, lowering the price is basically saying "Their product is better so we only expect you to buy ours at a lower price"

Rumor has it, when the PS3 launches MS will lower the price to 299.00 & release H3..

I think the 360 will drop in price unless the PS3 comes in at more than $499. The 360's main goal was to beat Sony to launch and make sure that Sony didnt get another huge headstart in this generation, IMO. Microsoft miscalculated their launch plans and unwanted systems collected dust in Japan while in the US the system was very difficult to find. Add into that the production problems limiting the number of consoles produced and the 360 hasnt reached the number of consumers MS was hoping for.

I would be willing to bet by the time the PS3 launches the 360 'core' system will be a memory. I'd also bet the premium will drop in price or will include Halo 3 as a pack in.
