EA: Pay us or we'll spam you and sell your details

    http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/fight-n...acy-155716.php

I was tinkering with the Playstation Portable version of Fight Night Round 3 tonight when I decided to check out the online play.

Imagine my shock when a message popped up telling me that I had to either pay $2 or give my privacy away to ESPN and whoever they feel like selling my details to, if I wanted to play online.
    ...
Sure you can probably give a fake email address, but this is more crap from EA.

That's how the mighty giant operates and I could see Sony following.

It's not "more crap". It's how they pay for the online capabilities so YOU don't have to. It's called a sponsorship, and it's pretty common in many other aspects of your everyday life.

But you didn't pay for online access, and that ain't free. EA pays good money to make that stuff available, and as such, they offset the cost with these sponsorships.

If it's THAT big a deal to you, pay the friggin' $2, lol. It's still less than my $50 a year for XBox Live.

This is only getting so much attention because it's EA, and any little thing they do is criticized by the "hardcore" gamers who claim they are doing the industry good by boycotting EA. Get over it, is the possibility of a little junk e-mail (provided your dumb enough to use your real e-mail address) so bad that you feel the need to cry about EA some more. 2K doesn't make you pay for online play, instead, they just throw in-game replays "Sponsored by Power Par!" at you the entire game.

Just curious, what other company does this exactly? I don't even think SCEA does when they're making their games. How can be be criticizing them when they're basically the first on the PSP which is still a fairly new handheld? Yeah, it might seem small, but that mess is garbage. Not to mention that you use your proper email address so you don't have to continually remake another username and password if you forgot. They'll give you the info right?? Right!!

If you don't want the spam then pay the $2, it's pretty simple, I mean cmon, most of you guys drop $2 on a bag of chips and a pepsi without thinking about it. It's not a big deal like people try to make it out to be.
