    Some Revolution News

Developers making Revolution software that will show up at E3 2006 in playable form - high profile companies like EA and Ubisoft, to name a few - will soon be sent the official fourth SDK prototype, which promises to deliver between 90% and 95% of the final system's performance.

Asked whether or not Revolution's horsepower was insufficient, one development source said no. "At first, we were discouraged that it would be less powerful than Xbox 360, but once we got everything working with the controller, our concerns faded," he explained.

Nintendo itself has not yet commented on a Revolution price point, except to confirm that it would sell for less than $299.

    More

    Less than $299

Also nice to see developers will be working with basically final hardware for awhile, since the Revolution is expected to launch around Thanksgiving.

If it really sells for less than 299, then I will get one for SURE

Learned my lesson with the Gamecube. I will be really cautious on this one.

LOL!! I kind of am still saving up for a Gamecube even though I have a Revolution. Gamecube has some fantastic games on there worth the purchase IMO!! I'm definitely going to wait until games hit the Revolution market though. I know I'm going to be broke trying to get old games downloaded on there too. I can only hope that it's smartly done. I wonder if they'll have some type of hard drive??

            It Begins...

            It's finally starting again.

For more than a year I've chatted with developers, gone to see pubishers, and it's always the same. I hear them talk about their Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 products, but they either don't know or don't care about Nintendo's new generation console, codenamed Revolution. I'd call it frustrating, but that'd be an understatement.

But times, they are a changing.

I'm guessing you meant to say you're still saving up for a Revolution even though you already have a Gamecube?

If the Revo comes out like the GC at $199 count me in. It's smaller and plays GC games. The GC had it's share of AAA titles and if you were to do the same for the PS2 and Xbox you might be surprised to see they weren't that far off from Sony and MS. Where the GC had problems was in 3rd party support. Towards the 2nd and 3rd year of the console multi-platform games were being excluded from the GC.

If Nintendo can fix that then the Revo may be a huge hit when you throw their funky controller into the mix.

Looking forward to Animal Crossing (Revo) and how they will use the controller.

If it's 299.99 or less I'll certainly have one and that will be my gaming fix. 360 and a little Revolution on the side.

Was trying to find a spot to put this. Would have made another thread but just don't feel like it. If people are interested enough, they'll come. This was a great read, especially the end of the article.

                      Revolution External.....??

                        Nintendo president vows cheap games

                        Pretty good interview.

The big news out of this article.

Most importantly, Iwata mentioned, were the USB ports that are built into the Revolution "so practically any storage method can be used".

GS: Is either company making a Revolution game right now?

JR: We’re enthralled with the platform just as much as we are with the 360 and PS3. Each of them have very different strengths that our games are going to play to. But we haven’t announced any commitments yet.

GS: Do you perceive difficulties with the Revolution, as far as making games multi-platform?

JR: Well the Revolution is a very different platform, and we’ve actually just seen some things behind closed doors that are just mind-blowing. Very very exciting. They’re doing something that’s very different and unique. I agree that it’s going to challenge the notion of just doing a port.

I don’t think it’s going to be as easy to take a product from one console to the Revolution, and so I think we are going to be looking to see how we can tailor our products to that platform. But we do that also with other platforms as well, it’s just that the Revolution may challenge us even more.

That sounds quite sexy you know. I'm very happy that I'm hearing this. Hopefully this is a positive that comes towards that system. Gamers are just winning so much these days. I just came back from work and couldn't help but enjoy the thought of using a hard drive and getting every Nintendo game that made me happy on it. How great is that??
