Video card advice
I am looking to upgrade my videocard. I currently have a ATI x300 PCIe card. I am looking to spend about $150 but if I need to go over a bit its okay. What would guys suggest? I have a Dell 3.4 P4 with soon to be 2GB of ram. I was thinking about either a GeForce 6600GT or a Radeon X800 Pro. I really need your help with this one guys. Whenever I have asked questions before you guys have never let me down.Tags: None -
Re: Video card advice
I was in your position a few weeks ago. I went to Best Buy, looking to only spend $150 like yourself, but ended up being talked into getting the ATI Radeon X1600 (PCI-express), for $300. I'm now getting some of the best graphical performance I've ever seen in computer games. I highly recommend it if you are willing to spend $300.
EDIT: We have the exact same number of posts at this moment... creepy lol... -

Not to sound like a jerk but if you paid $300 for a X1600 PCIe card you were robbed. Check the link belowOriginally posted by KrioniqI was in your position a few weeks ago. I bought this card and it's one bad @ss card for the money. This thing can overclock to an x850xtpe card and some cards will run at 545/605 cpu/mem speeds.Comment

Re: Video card advice
Funky Chicken,
The best piece of advice I can give you is too buy the video card from online and avoid the retail chains.
I have an AGP Geforce 6800 GS
At a local retailer it was 400 bucks since finding a new AGP card is basically impossible... I bought mine online for $219
The PCIe card at a local retailer was $350, but online it was $230.
BTW, shipping was free cause of the price of the order.
www.newegg.com
I've used all 3 for PC stuff and paid a heck of a lot less than retail.
In terms of the video cards, you'll save no joke, at least a 100 bucks in a lot of cases.Last edited by DXZeke; 03-03-2006, 12:19 AM.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Video card advice
I can vouche for Newegg.com they have the best model of customer service. If you read many of their reviews someone usually says and "newegg rocks". It's not until something goes wrong and they go out of their way to make it right that you get to appreiciate the "newegg you rock" chime.Comment
