Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
Walked into a Blockbuster for the first time in over 2 years and I found out it now costs $9 to rent a game. You get to keep it for a week and there's no more 3 day rentals.Tags: None -
Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
Yea its rediculous.
Family Video
5 dollars for 3 nights
or
2.50 for 1 night.
all in all its the same if you keep it for a week, but still gives you lesser option. -

Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
yeah theyve been a ripoff for years.
ever since i found hastings, its a no brainer. although there new dvds are 3.69 for 5 nights and games are 5.99 for 5. they offer 25 cents off the 99 cent rental dvds if returned by the next day. Works out to about 3-4 free rentals a month for nothing essentially nothing different.Comment

Kats sleeping on Family Video. They're going to blow up if they only try to branch out cause they're deals are off the chain. Sometimes they run promotionals by my house where it's new releases for $1.00. Can't get no better than that. Video games are always the same though.Comment

Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
2 weeks actually with the no late fees thing. Sadly the best option here:
Blockbuster is $11.50 for 360 games and $10.33 for PS2,GC and Xbox, almost always gets games on time, day late tops and ussally has everything. Pay an extra $1.75 and keep it for a whole month.
Local store #1 is $3 for 1 day,$4.59 for 2 but then $7.59 for 3 and $9.18 for 4 on PS2,GC and Xbox games,$3 a day late fee. $3.45 per day for 360 games wich means it would be $48.30 to keep it for 2 weeks, ussally gets games 1-10 days late. They're the best on older games though $5.73 per week.
Local store #2 is 3$ for 1 day,$5 for 2,$6 for 3...and so on,stops at $11.50 for the week with all prices for consoles being the same and every 10 rentals is a free one being the best option money wise BUT they never get games on time(2-3 weeks late sometimes),if at all.(they still don't have Fight Night, took a month to get DOA 4) $2 a day late fee or differance between what you payed and how late it is depending on how late it is.Comment

Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
For week long rentals you can keep the movie/game up to two weeks without any extra charge. Usually at the checkout the CSR will say its due back on such and such day (reason for this is that Blockbuster would like you to return the item as soon as possible at your convenience). You have up to a week after that before you are charged extra, like a grace period. Once the two weeks pass by the movie/game will auto charge to your account minus any rental fees. At this point you can keep the movie/game and pay the balance or you can return the movie/game within 30 days after the time the item auto charged to your account. If you do return the item then there the balance will be reduced to a $1.35 restocking fee that you have to pay. It is a one time fee for that movie, where as on the hold system the movie/game would continue to be automatically checked out to you over and over again until it was returned at the balance would go up.Originally posted by ballerzincI think you can keep it at least a month with no late fees if they're still doing that promotion.
The same thing applies to 3 day movie rentals. You have the week grace period and then everything else is the same.
So week long rentals came be held on to for two weeks without any additional charge, and 3 day rentals came be held on to for 10 days without any additional charge.
Also if you want to rent any 360 games you have to put a credit card on the account, for secruity reasons.Last edited by OSUG1; 03-02-2006, 07:23 PM.Cowboys - Thunder - AthleticsComment

Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
Actually, a BB you have to have a credit-card on file for any rentals. If you don't have it back by a week after the original due-date, they charge you for the movie. If you return it they take of the charge, but keep the rental/re-stocking fee.Comment

Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
For a membership you have to have second ID, and a credit card will work. On the application there is a area for credit cards it is not required to get a memberhsip. You can have a credit card on the account, but any auto sale will be charged to the card. If you bring the item back there will be a credit for the amount charged minus the restocking fee. The credit can be left on the account or can be put back on the card, its the customers choice.Originally posted by Longhorn6Actually, a BB you have to have a credit-card on file for any rentals. Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
Really? I know at ours they made us put a CC on file once the no-late-fee promotion started.Originally posted by OSUG314For a membership you have to have second ID, and a credit card will work. On the application there is a area for credit cards it is not required to get a memberhsip.Comment

Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
You should be able to have them take it off. At my store we have never forced people to put a CC on their account for them to be able to rent.Originally posted by Longhorn6Really? Re: Blockbuster... What A Rip Off
Doesn't really matter...don't go there enough for me to have to worry about it. Plus it made buying Trasnporter 2 easy....rented it, liked it, called them up "Yeah, I'm keeping this' and bam.Originally posted by OSUG314You should be able to have them take it off.
