    Two Worlds (360/PC)

Is there life after Oblivion? If developer Reality Pump of Earth 2150 fame accomplishes its goals, we might be in the presence of the next big RPG to land on the Xbox 360.

      Two Worlds Updated Impressions
We see the game in motion at last and come away with new details.

Previously, we had only seen screenshots and heard PR speak about Two Worlds, the upcoming PC and Xbox 360 real-time RPG. In the videogame world, you never know quite what to expect until you've seen the game up and running in some form, so we didn't really have much to go on. Today we got the opportunity to see the game strut its stuff in playable form. Along with learning some new details, we also got a chance to see how the proprietary engine stacks up. In short, it's not looking bad. Not bad at all.

Oblivion left humongous shoes to fill...but this looks pretty decent.

Why does just about everything that has setting like this has something called an orc in it? Can they not come up with any other name?

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Because it's part of the lore of the genre. Would you want to see a Star Wars movie where there are no stormtroopers?

              New previews

The combination system is where Two Worlds starts to get really interesting.

Early on, you'll want to be wearing any piece of armor you can get your hands on, but as you progress, you'll end up with an excess of shields and weapons clogging your inventory. Instead of throwing these away, Two Worlds allows you to combine like-objects to create new and possibly better equipment.
Two Worlds will support up to eight players in multiplayer, with unique quests you can undergo with or without help from your friends. You basically co-exist in the world map, but aren't necessarily tied to each other's location.

For instance, the gameworld will be persistent; burned grass and trees will stay burned until they grow back later after rainfall. Unlike in Oblivion, you'll be able to seamlessly enter and exit buildings with no load times, which means that you won't be able to escape from botched thievery attempts just by sneaking out the door.
Yes, Two Worlds is being designed for online multiplayer. Apparently, pending approval from Microsoft, the game will also be playable over Xbox Live for up to eight players in a single game session. You'll be able to create multiplayer saved games that store your characters (and any unique item recipes you've discovered that have your name on them) so that you can hunker down with some friends for a session, save your game, then come back to it the next time your buddies are available.
