New LCD screen and 360

Im currently having a friend build me a computer (Fx-60 AMD yes!) and im going full out with the upgrades. Im buying a brand new 24" lcd monitor (I currenly use a old sony 28" Wega non-hd for 360)

Supposedly, it's one of the nicest (if not the nicest) lcd's on the market for computer use. My guess is it would likely work very well for the 360 too. Also supposidly it doesn't have a build in "tuner".. does that matter?

Questions:

1. What will I need to hook up the 360 to this screen?

2. Will having the computer running using the screen at the same time as the cables are hooked up hurt anything? Will I just need some type of switcher to configure what (xbox or computer) is using the screen at the time?

3. Will this screen be able to run the 360 in HD? If so, in what resolution..the default resolution of this screen is 1920x1200 is that a problem? Also will this monitor support the 360 in widescreen??

4. I am also getting a brand new 5.1 SS speaker system for my computer. Is it possible to use these speakers for the 360 and also have them use the computer sound card while using the 360?

1. There's an official Xbox VGA cable that allows you to connect the Xbox 360 to a monitor and get HD quality through that

2. I don't know if that's a monitor that has multiple inputs and has a switcher, if not you'll want to get a KVM switch that allows you to switch between 2 video inputs on 1 monitor. 360 supports widescreen, you can see what resolution it defaults to, but if it's a widescreen monitor you can set it to widescreen. I don't have experience with this, just because my monitor's not a widescreen one.

3. Yes. The VGA cable I mentioned above also has R and L audio out, as well as coming with the adapter that combines them into one plug that can go into your "Line In" on the sound card, therefore playing the Xbox 360 sound via the computer speakers. You use the Windows Volume/Sound mixer thing to determine how loud the Line In is, control volume through there or on the speakers themselves.

I, and others here, use the VGA cable for what you want to do, and it's working out great. Hope this helps.

You may be able to use SVideo or something depending on what the monitor supports, but then you'd have to figure out how to get the sound into the PC, I only have used the VGA cable so if your monitor's pimp enough there are other options i'm not as versed in.

Looking at that, its listing as having Component cables, so there might be a way to hook your 360 up with the cables you aready have. If you have a premium Xbox 360.

I just got a new PC, with a pretty nice LCD monitor. You can't go wrong with the MS VGA cables. It'll come with everything you need. Graphics are just as good on my monitor, as they are on my HDTV.
