Is the 360 worth buying right now???

Right now I have an xbox and have been enjoying it, but now with my friend getting a 360 and after playing it the graphics are fantastic.

My question is, is it worth dropping 500 dollars on the system and a game or two? especially when i dont have an HDTV.

***The 360 ($500) would only be $42/ a month on the military star card so there is no interest unless i cant pay it off in a year. This is easily affordable to me***

But then if I get it I know that I am going to start looking for TV's, HDTV's. And I really dont feel like dropping that kind of money.

So is the 360 worth an investment?

    Thanks
    Chia

Until GRAW came out, I would have said no, but its seems the new releases are really going to start standing out from the old generation.

I love the 360, but your mileage may vary. I'd suggest looking up the 360's library and see if enough of the current and soon-to-be-released titles interest you.

GRAW is a standalone system seller.

My thoughts on the 360 after playing GRAW is everyone should own one. It blows away any FPS game made before it. I can't wait to see this 2nd generation titles.

The explosions in GRAW are worth buying the system.

Havent played GRAW yet, but i can tell you first hand that COD2 and NBA 2k6 were system sellers for me!

I think you need to have COD2, NBA 2k6, and GRAW (from the big boom its made, 240,000 copies sold.... just crazy)

I think the 360 is just an amazing system as you can tell!

I'd actually work on getting an HD TV first. You'll likely get more enjoyment out of an HD set than a video game console. After that, then you should look for a 360. The fact that they are still some-what hard to find makes the decision easier as well. As for whether or not you should get a console, the answer to that is simple (no matter what the console), and that is do you like the software available? A console is only as good as the games that are available for it. And if you're like me and you don't care for first-person shooters, then you probably don't need one at this point in time.

It is nice to see that they were in it for the challenge and not necessarily to pirate games.

good points. I'm going to buy an HDTV in the next few months, and then buy the 360 in time for college football 07, which I can't wait for!! However, after watching footage of GRAW I'm tempted to go splurge and buy everything now, but I'll hold off.....

Although I do like FPS's, I feel they can get old quick, so I really only buy one every once in a while, the ones that are really good (just got through HL2 for xbox which I liked).

Thats what I did. Purchased my HD first and after the GMU-UNC game, I'm going to pick up my Premium that wasn't supposed to be available until 4/1.

Im not a fan boy of any system by any means, but i think this month alone had some really decent titles out --- then throw in some of the launch titles. If you have the money and are on tthe fence about a 360, you'll be pretty happy that you did it after a couple weeks.

At first i was like "ehhh... i hope this was smart" and now I'm really happy that I had gotten the system in November.

If you can get online, even with the Silver subscription it's nice. If you pay for the Gold service to be able to play online, that's a really nice extra.

I don't really have a favorite game. I've just got a bunch of them I like. My buying habbits have gotten bad with this system.

GRAW is very cool. It's got a lot of the same features that Ghost Recon 2 had with playing skirmishes, etc. Online Co-Op is really cool.

Oblivion will be nice, HOPEFULLY... Blazing Angels of WW2 looks really nice. Not to mention Far Cry Predator.

Kameo is one of the best platformers I've played in years (with psyhconuats being the best).

NBA 2k6 and College Hoops is really good.
Heck, I even thought that NHL 2k6, even though not really any different looking than the X1 version, it still plays better.... better frame rates and the replays looks much nicer. Nicer ice effects...

it's worth while picking up one now.
