Also...you should buy at minimum a 1gb stick, don't waste your time with smaller memory cards. The PSP mem card is like a HDD in your computer, never enough space. I only have a 512 stick and wish I had a bigger one. I haven't picked up a 1gb stick since they came down in price, because I was holding out for a 2gb stick. Now with PS1 emulation coming and new PSP's likely shipping with a 4gb HDD to be able to store those games, I am thinking about just holding out for a 4gb stick price drop.

I use my PSP to surf, watch TV shows and listen to music more than I play games on it. That made it very worth while because my GBA always sat in a drawer. At least I get a ton of use out of the PSP even if I rarely play a portable game. The games are good, but I just don't get in the mood that often to play them.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I think I'm going to try and hit Best Buy this Friday and hope they are selling the $199 core system.

If anyone has any tips on exactly what accessories I should look to get (since the core comes only with a battery and a/c adaptor), and any good games, I'd love to hear it.

        You have Location Free?

Man, all I need is a 1GB mem stick. But I don't have one atm, and there aren't really any good RPGs out for PSP yet (That's mostly what I like handhelds for). So therefore, I never have a reason to pick up my PSP right now.

          What's location free??

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendation for what case to get for the PSP?

Right now I'm looking at getting the PSP Core system, Sandisk 1GB Duo memory stick, and MLB 06. Other than a case, is there anything else I'll need to take advantage of all of the PSP's features?

Apparently there is a 2 gb stick out or coming out.

Don't really need the Location Free Player (if you know what a Slingbox is, this is Sony'stake), I just use my PC.

People seem to swear by that Logitech case, but I didn't want anything bulky, so I bought the Pelican Face Armor and really satisfied with it. You really do want some protection for the Screen.

This seems to be the best price on a 2gb stick right now.

I have the Pelican Face Armor as well, it has worked great for me also. Does Slingbox work with PSP?

I think freezeframe is still trying to find the 16 gb memory sticks since I never heard back.

I'm now interested in getting a PSP to check my email while on the go and eventually as a GPS device. Has anyone used the email feature and how does it work? Does it work with Hotmail or would I have to use a Sony proprietery email service?

I used hotmail on it, but it would take you 7 hours to type out an email to someone.

Does it use an onscreen keyboard where you have to navigate with the d-pad? Hey EG will it let you browse sites like IGN, Gamespot etc? I take it I would have to be at a Wi-Fi hotspot.

On screen keyboard I believe, I sold it a long time ago. I did do post on OS once with it. You can view any site out there with it, it's actually a nice browser.

Thanks man I may get one once Microsoft spills the beans about the Origami and what it's going to cost. I run a small business and would use it while working.

The Origami intrigues me the most cause it's a smaller version of a Tablet PC. I'm sure I could install Streets and Trips and use a GPS with it and using it to email would not be as much a hassle as the PSP.

Re: On the Fence re: PSP

Only way I would buy another PSP is if the design was smaller and a HDD would be included. Without a HDD, there is no way that this system is worth it for me with what I want to do. I like to place movies and mp3's + game and 1gb and 2gb sticks don't cut it.

SONY just released news that there are going to be PSONE games for download to the system. How is this going to be possible with such small memory cards out there unless they release a HDD PSP.

I read that 4 and 8gb sticks are on the way later this year, but what will those retail at $300-$400? Not worth it imo.

Even if they sold this thing at $299 with a builtin 40gb HDD and a sleeker design, I think that they would cut into Apple's IPOD business. Currently, I just see the PSP as a glorified movie player (UMD) when you have more movies out than games.
