Yeah I think I'll wait till E3 and see what Sony says regarding the PSP cause they'll be pushing PS1 games on the system. So i'm sure more hardware info will be coming out.
Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

The more the merrier.Originally posted by Shaner99I still don't see why people would need 20-30GB for freaking MP3s. I mean really.. are you going to listen to ALL of those songs at once? Now if you were talking videos, I MIGHT consider that.. even so, a 1GB card can hold a reasonable amount of mp3s and a couple movies. (convert of course)Comment

Re: Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

Remember, they are making money off of these PS1 games. The more HDD space you have, the more money that you will spend for games. If you know that you are running out of space, it either causes you to delete games off the memory stick or go out and buy another one.Originally posted by freezeframePs1 games are only CD based games with 650 mb max limit most games were only 350 megs. You would only need a 1 gig mem stick.Comment

Re: Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

They said at CES that they will be releasing larger memory sticks this year.4gb,8gb,etc.

Right now I'm being a cheap bastard so I'm waiting for those to come out before I buy a stick. Most likely the 2gb one will be pushed down to just about $100. I really don't know how long a 1gb stick will last me. After all, I'm using this as a media device(music/video/pictures). No good RPGs out for me yet so no games for me.Xbox 360 GamertagRAW 910

Re: Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

One thing that has me still concerned about the PSP is the LCD screen. When they were first released I purchased one at Best Buy on launch day.

I tried three PSP's and returned every single one because of "dead or stuck pixels". I did not buy into Sony's excuse/lie that it's the technology stupid as all LCD technology suffers from this and that i'll need to live with it.

I have a 3 year old 17" Viewsonic Flat Panel, a 3 year old Dell Laptop, a Nintendo DS, a beautiful 27" Widescreen LCD/HDTV and not one of them has any pixel problems.

Has Sony corrected this problem? or are PSP's still suffering from dead or stuck pixels?Comment

Re: Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

I'd say you've just had bad luck. Especially considering you have a DS with no dead pixels. From what I understand, the dead pixel problem is more common with the DS.Originally posted by RodsterOne thing that has me still concerned about the PSP is the LCD screen. Re: Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

I guess my middle name must be Murphy then if no one has had stuck or dead pixels.

I have two more questions if someone knows the answers.
 1) I hear of a GPS coming out, anyone know when and could it be used to find addresses?
 2) Can I view PDF files on a PSP?

I ask these questions cause I would use the PSP's GPS function while on business travels and I have PDF's with pictures I would like to use and save on my PSP.Comment

Re: Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

You can view Jpegs but not PDFs. Just convert the PDFs to Jpeg. If you have a firmware version 1.5 then you could view pdf files. But newer PSPS are locked and have 2.6 and above firmware in that case the Jpeg is your only hope.Comment

Hey Rodster I have a question....I have a 1 year warranty for my PSP with Best Buy that will be up this summer....Basically I wanna get a new PSP. I have a few dead pixels at the top of my LCD screen. Will I be able to trade in my PSP and get a new one? If not what can I do to get a new PSP with my warranty?"Solutions rarely come from the same minds as people who cause the problems"Comment

Re: Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

Keep in mind it's really a two year warranty. Sony offers a 1 year warranty on the PSP and Best Buy is covering the second year.Originally posted by jmill703Hey Rodster I have a question....I have a 1 year warranty for my PSP with Best Buy that will be up this summer....Basically I wanna get a new PSP. If your second year of the warranty is about to expire this summer then yes by all means take it back to Best Buy and they will replace it with a brand new unit. "DO NOT FORGET" to re-purchase a NEW extended warranty for your replacement PSP. At that point you now have a 2 year warranty again for your new PSP.

Remember that during the first year you can exchange your PSP if defective for an unlimited amount of time because you are in the 1st year of the Sony Warranty. After the first year you are only allowed 1 return and you can elect to purchase a new 2 year warranty from Best Buy for around $20.Comment

This will be my 1st year warranty that will expire this summer...This is gonna sound like a real dumb question but...What do I tell the people in Best Buy customer service??? I means its only got a couple of dead pixels at the top so they might tell me its nothing and make me keep it....I remember last summer I wanted to replace the headphones because they weren't working right and the manager refused to exchange them claiming it was my fault that they weren't working right."Solutions rarely come from the same minds as people who cause the problems"Comment

Re: Any hints of when the next PSP will come out?

If they give you any grief, just start bitching. It works for everyone else in the retail world. Seriously, they can tell you whatever they want, but you bought their warranty. Bottom line: you are entitled to return it any time during the covered warranty period for anything you are unsatisfied with. Tell them about the dead pixels, tell them some UMD's wont load properly, whatever-it shouldn't matter in the end.Originally posted by jmill703This will be my 1st year warranty that will expire this summer...This is gonna sound like a real dumb question but...What do I tell the people in Best Buy customer service??? They won't give you any BEEF and if they do take your 6' 5" 350 pound dad along with you or find one.Originally posted by jmill703This will be my 1st year warranty that will expire this summer...This is gonna sound like a real dumb question but...What do I tell the people in Best Buy customer service??? Seriously they never hassled me. Just tell them you bought a 2 year warranty, the machine was pixel perfect and you spent a lot of money. Besides now that you know you have a bad pixel you notice it everytime you use the system.

Here's a little dirty secret Best Buy will never tell you. If you buy and extended warranty from them and the machine goes bad for whatever reason. You always have the option of getting your original money back including sales tax minus the amount for the warranty.

So lets say in the 23 month or the day before the warranty were to expire all you need to do is take the unit to Best Buy and tell them it's not working like it use too and your tired of getting replacements because they're junk and you want your moneyback in the form of a gift card so you can buy something else at their store.

If my slim PS2 breaks down or even hiccups before the PS3 comes out i'm getting my money back and using my $150 + Tax on the purchase of a PS3.

It's called working the system in your favor as a consumer. Last edited by Rodster; 03-28-2006, 02:21 AM. Last edited by Rodster; 03-28-2006, 02:21 AM.Comment
