Either way, it's the end of an era. It's funny to imagine that for many here on OS, the first Playstation was to them as the NES was to me.

What's even funnier is that there are probably some even younger members of OS (NYJets) who look at the screen shots from PS1 games and laugh at how crappy the graphics were.

Hah, if you even knew...when I first layed eyes on the Playstation, my jaw hit the floor. The first game I ever saw wa NFL Gameday, and I was simply amazed that I could kind of make out a Bills logo on the side of their helmet. Utterly amazing.

        RIP, Sony Playstation.

To be honest, my first system was a TV Pong game, too, but it really belonged to my dad. I only played it maybe 10 times.

The first system that was bought FOR me was the Atari 5200. I remember when that thing got discontinued. Toys'R'Us was selling the games for like, five bucks a pop. I mowed some lawns and went in there and had myself one HELL of a shopping spree!!

I look back at things like the PSone and N64 and simply say, wow, I swore those graphics were greatness back in the day. Funny thing, I can't stand bad graphics on PS2/Xbox/Gamecube, but it doesn't really bother me at all for the PSone.

I'd have to say that era (32 and 64 bit) has aged the worst in terms of visual quality. Games like Super Mario World and Super Metroid are still nice to look at, even if they aren't realistic, while some of those 32 bit games are just horrid. Still, I remember when they came out how great I thought the visuas were. I remember the first Tekken amazing me, and Tekken 3 looked like it could not possibly be topped from a visual standpoint. Final Fantasy 8, Vagrant Story, Resident Evil 2, and so many others looked fantastic. Those better looking titles are still more than playable and just as entertaining as before, but its funny to remember when one couldn't even fathom a game surpassing their visual quality.

The PSOne is probably the best all around console thus far when one considers its library of titles and visual quality for its era. The SNES and PS2 would have to follow as close runner-ups with the original NES getting an honorable mention.
