Best month for 360 so far.

March has been a great month for 360 game releases. WIth big games like GRAW and OBlivion. And other great games.

Heres ign game of the month and runner up

Game of the Month: March 2006
    An epic battle.
    by IGN Staff

March 31, 2006 - The end of each month signifies a variety of milestones across everyone's lives. People are getting their paychecks, making resolutions, doing their laundry, going grocery shopping, cleaning their gutters, and possibly celebrating with a frosty beverage. In keeping with the theme of closure, we here at IGN amass from our vast library of green-boxed games the ones that came out over the past month and determine which one is the reigning champ.

Our method of selection varies and is largely dependent on how much parmesan encrusted veal and Alaskan king crab we've consumed during the day. After all, we here at IGN are fancy people. Usually, and we're not exactly sure how this keeps happening, our selection process comes down to having the top two titles in contention fight to the death in arena-style gladiatorial combat. Sometimes, though, if we've eaten enough fancy food, we all sit down and discuss which game deserves the top spot while sipping steaming china cups of Earl Grey.

Since most game reviews are written by a single person this feature gives you, the reader, a chance to see which games hold up under different angles of criticism. This way, we can rule out games that got a high rating from one person because they happened to be a big fan of the subject material, or perhaps got a low rating for the exact same reason. Eligible games include any that were reviewed over the past month.

Some of our basic guidelines for GOTM selection include the score, obviously, but also several other factors. A game might get a good score, but what about if a title is an original or a sequel, whether it's unique or just an improvement on an existing formula, whether it looks pretty but plays like crap? These are all issues that must be run through to make the final decision. All in all, we're trying to combine myriad factors to determine which game is the most fun. If you're looking for the definitive word on which title to buy for this month, this is where to look.

Now that you understand which games are eligible, how they're selected, and how amazingly fancy we are, we'll move on to this month's selection.

Forget barren January. Dismiss frigid February. Hell, who even gives a crap about launch anymore. March dwarfed them all, and served as a launching pad for some major Xbox 360 software. A revamped Burnout: Revenge was released with fancy graphics and new online modes. Rumble Roses XX was sexy but shallow. Blazing Angels was promising but went down in flames. Far Cry Instincts Predator unsheathed its feral claws. Despite the number of releases, two stood above the pack. We all know who wrestled to the death to win this one. The Tyrannosaurus at the dinner table, Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, versus Ubisoft's squad-based titan, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. The battle was epic, Oblivion's enchanted swords and deadly bows against GRAW's rocket launchers and assault rifles. In the end though, Oblivion's colossal size, seemingly endless play options and stunning visuals slew its formidable competitor.

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="460"><tbody><tr><td align="center" width="460"></td></tr></tbody></table><table bgcolor="#f0f0f0" width="460"><tbody><tr><td>Why we chose it: Jeepers, Oblivion sure is fun to play! Sorry, that language was unwarranted and vulgar. To be absolutely ****ing serious, though, the game is huge. It's got nearly limitless ways to play, it sounds and looks great, and adds some much needed depth to the Xbox 360 library. As such, it's an extremely important release for the system, and one that will be remembered for years to come. Sure it's got bugs, some of the outdoor loading can get frustrating and the auto-leveling system isn't always fair, but it's nothing that stops Oblivion being one of the most enjoyable games to be released in quite a while. If you're an RPG fan, you need this game. If you hate RPGs, you need to try this one out. If you're a gamer at all, you've got to witness this in some way or another.</td></tr></tbody></table>
Readers' Game of the Month: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

    Reader Review Quote:
Oblivion is an open-ended, non-linear role-playing game that continues the outstanding tradition of the award-winning Elder Scrolls series. The short description of Oblivion would be that it's Morrowind on Steroids. The basic frame work of the game is the same in that you can do whatever you want, when ever you want. The ability to be a huge pack rat and collect everything and anything in the game world is still here. Almost everything that you come across in Oblivion can be picked up and stored for later use. Oblivion is the role-playing game for the next generation and another leap forward in gaming. It's also the most richly detailed and vibrant game-world ever created on a game system.<small>(Read the full review)</small>

    Here's a different take:

Quote: i'm sorry to read ign's review. in 1 year this will be classfied as a terrible game. never in my life have i walked down in openfield and sat through load after load, glitch after glitch. fighting in the open world in this game is a joke, you load and glitch as you manuvere. the world is empty and dull, shodaw of the colossus on the ps2 almost looks better then this game and it doesn't load and glitch either. i can't believe the reviewer gave this game such a high rating in a month he will wish he hadn't. if you've got sixty bucks don't spend it on this, this is a game that would have been cool online with friends, but just sucks to play alone. 3rd person is like floating through the air and first person is really hard to see quick fighters. word to the wise, don't listen to all these hyped up reviews, this game sucks.<small>(Read the full review)</small>

    Runner-Up

    Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

    Developed by Ubisoft
    Published by Ubisoft
Why We Picked It:The game's a full package. It's got an excellent single player campaign and tons of online cooperative and versus options. Mix in a solid control scheme and absolutely awesome graphics, and you can't go wrong with this one. Though it has some squad A.I. issues, the game is still a blast, but isn't quite enough to dethrone Oblivion.
    <big>Honorable Mentions</big>
    Burnout: Revenge
    Far Cry Instincts Predator

Looking ahead, Tomb Raider Legends, Battlefield 2 and Final Fantasy XI are looming on the horizon in April. E3 follows right behind that, where we'll get to see much of what to expect over the next few years on the Xbox 360. From where we are now, March 2006 has been the best month for the Xbox 360, arguably better than launch. Here's hoping we'll see many more like it in the future.

I bet that it does. I don't see anything else even coming close unless it's Gears of War which appears to also be impressive.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about Zelda.

It feels like the Gamecube has completely dropped out of site.

You know a game is good when this is the only "bad" review of the game that IGN could find.

And March has been great. Really makes me glad that I got a X360 2 months ago during the shortages.
