This game is a nice break from 360, I loved Kingdom Hearts 1 (lol i almost didnt try it i never thought diseny and square would make a good game, i was thinking all along prolly a kids game) but they pulled it off i just picked it up but its an excellent RPG so far nice graphics and of course the soild gameplay picks up from the original with some tweaks, but its a must buy for RPG lovers.

Is this a good game for me to buy for my 7 year old nephew and 11 year old niece? They don't need anything too hard or they get bored with it and quit playing. Most of the games they enjoy are open ended games and/or sports games where you can keep playing and doing something different without getting "stuck".

Yes, but get them KH1 first if they haven't played it.

The game is rated for ages 10 and older. I don't think it's too hard. There are a lot of cut scenes in the game, especially at the beginning, so it depends on if they like that kind of game. I can't imagine any younger kid that like Disney stuff not liking this game though.

            Re: Kingdom Hearts II Impressions

There are a lot of cutscenes in the beginning that reference KH1. If these kids prefer to skip all cutscenes, then the game will be fine for them. If they try to follow the story, they will be lost.

In addition to that, the game is full of Final Fantasy references. While recognizing them isn't important to the story, they're going to wonder why the game is stopping to introduce these weird characters that don't seem related to the story.

When I say it is full of them, I mean it is full of them. So far, 20 hours in, the story has introduced the following FF characters:

            Seifer
            Raijun
            Fuujin
            Setzer
            Cloud
            Sephiroth
            Leon
            Yuffie
            Tifa
            Cid
            Vivi
            Aeris
            Auron
            Paine
            Rikku
            Yuna
            Selphie (I think that's her)
Mog (Doesn't really count since he has a purpose)

So if they're not interested in understanding the story, your niece/nephews will be fine. Really, you should just buy them KH and KH2. KH should be like $7 on EBay.

Is the Greatest Hits edition of Kingdom Hearts the same as the original release? I've never bought a GH PS2 game before, so I don't know if they change stuff. I want to get the first KH since I've liked KH2 so much.

Same game as the original. Read the reviews on the game as there were some serious camera issues with the first KH game that kept it away from being stellar.

Thanks. Yeah I've heard people talk about the camera issues in KH but I think I might still enjoy it. The camera in KH2 annoys me sometimes, especially when you have a big enemy (size-wise) you have to fight or like when Beast was in your party, I could never tell what was going on.

Ok so you are aware of it then. Keep in mind that KH1 is much harder than KH2. If you have no problems with that then you should enjoy the game as I hear it's really good.

That's what keeps me from buying KH1.

I haven't made it all the way through KH2 yet because of time, but I wouldn't consider it a very hard game. I'm playing on the middle difficulty level and wish I had played on the harder one sometimes.

I'll give KH1 a go since there is a Greatest Hits version to keep the price down.

KH2 is not a hard game, but it is a charming experience. Thedisney cameos make it all the worthwhile, and its definitely a title for the whole family. I invite my 5 year old nephew and 3 year old neice to come and watch me play. I never got a chance to play the original, but definitely enjoying this one

oh I agree, it's a very fun game. I'm at the Tron level right now. I think it is the only level so far I haven't liked. I just haven't been too challenged thus far in the game. I seem to be able to defeat most everybody with slicing my keyblade at them. I haven't had to strategize out how to use my attacks, attack vs magic-wise, like I'm used to in FF games. But it still is a ton of fun, very similar to a Zelda game. So far I would say the hardest battles I've had were in Mulan's land when I had to keep morale up, in Beast's palace against the big boss, and in the Pride Lands when I have to protect that the wharthog (Puumba? I can't keep his and Timon's names straight). I going to look for the original tonight as I'm kicking around town, if I can't find it I'll get it on eBay.
