Do the newer released XBOXs still plaque from DDE?

I have an old thompson driven xbox and it simply cant play any newer games past 2003 for whatever reasons. I can still sorta get in games of nba 2k2 but 50% of the time, the audio stops and the game freezes after a qrt./half.

Has anyone bought a xbox in the past 3 months, if so what DVD drives are used now..

    thanks

Are you thinking of picking up a new Xbox Ruben? I think the new ones come with the Samsung.

im thinking about it... atleast until the newer sports games release this fall at which pt. i'd get a major upgrade with 360. I just want this thing to last more than 5 months with extensive use..

I still have this personal cd player by magnavox from 1996... thing still works . this'll be my third xbox in 5 if i get one.

Hey RD you should be fine with it. Like Metro said they have the Samsung drives which are very reliable. It should give you several years of reliable playtime.

I have a newer Xbox that I bought over two years ago and it's flawless.

Unless, you just put that $180 or whatever your going to spend towards getting a 360. I guess it also comes down to how many game do you own for the xbox1 and are any of those BC? A brand new xbox is $179.99 w/ Forza and they don't sell the system by itself new anymore.

You can go the refurb route which I had done back in January for $129.99 and the thing worked like a charm, no problems at all. If you buy a used one, get a refurb as you know that those have gone through MS for repair as opposed to one traded in by a customer that was never fully tested.

I can backup the REFURB statement.

When I worked retail I would suggest Microsoft REFURBS as opposed to used ones. I had only 1 out, no kidding, at least 100 and some of the 3yrs of retail I worked come back... that person brought the system back because they had burned the insides out. They didn't realize you couldn't block the fan up --- after I told everyone too "give your system some space for air momement."

Sony doesn't do REFURBS... if you see that name, it really means that EB/Gamestop or the company selling them went through and cleaned them up.
MS is the only one to have a legit REFURB program.

my best friend. he's got a Refurb. His has a Samsung drive. His is a year old. So, dont worry about getting another thompson, it won't happen.

Why don't you pick up the samsung drive off ebay and replace the thompson. I know pk500 did that a while back.

Yes, and it's worked out great. It cost $60.

Ruben, I'll be happy to point you to a the guy from whom I bought my drive on eBay. He offers a 30-day return policy on all of his drives, no questions asked. That's better than some retail joints!

I'd also be happy to point you to the site where I learned how to install the new drive. The whole process took less than 30 minutes. It's a breeze.

PM me or post here. Good luck!

                  Take care,
                  PK

60 bucks sounds like a bargain. Are they new or refurbished samsung drives? I just recently opened up my xbox and cleaned the laser, so that whol process of opening it up and installing the new drive seem too easy.

It'd be great if you can show me that ebay name. Ive looked on ebay and couldnt really find any concrete or solid auctions where I felt confident in the product.

Its as easy as plug and play right?

Ruben, my man, it's plug and play. It really is that easy. I'll PM you with the name of the guy from whom I bought my drive. I think it was a refurb or lightly used drive, but I couldn't be happier.
