Battlefield 2: MC - Reviews & Impressions Thread

First up, Team Xbox, 7.3. Sounds like they are too busy comparing this game to GRAW.

    Team Xbox Review

"Undoubtedly, Modern Combat gives you a lot to do, between the single-player Campaign, the various Challenges and what will hopefully be durable multiplayer gameplay. The need to spend a lot of time trying to keep your reckless AI soldiers from rushing headlong into the spray of enemy bullets is frustrating, but it’s what sets this arcade-style game from being confused with the hardcore strategy offered by a game such as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. That’s not necessarily a black mark for Modern Combat, but if you’re looking for a chess match, you’ll probably be disappointed by what’s instead feels like the kind of war game you played with toy soldiers as a kid in the backyard—lots of bodies flying around willy-nilly and lying face first in the dirt."

I don't have a 360, but I just wanted to say, how can they give it a 7.3 when that quote makes the game sound like a blasty blast?

Probably because G.R.A.W set a standard and Battfield doesn't live up to that standard. Just like how GTA set one for True Crime,25 to Life,Bulletproof and so on.

having never played the Xbox game and after now playing the demo... I'm buying this game.

The SP mode may never see the light of day anyway as I'll be an online BF2 addict.

          Gamespot Review: 7.5

These reviewers are scoring the game low, because it's a port of the current-gen version with just a new coat of paint.

I would've liked to have seen Battlefield 2 for the PC ported to the 360.

Anyways, I will probably be getting this game, because of the demo.

I like the point the 1up reviewer brings up. Most of not all of these gloss job ports are tanking on the 360, and to me it's a very good thing. It goes back to the backwards compatability, big-name companies are trying to exploit users taking advantage that they can't play certain games on the system. Otherwise they'd do the smart thing and buy the original version for $15 online(again, seeing how these games rarely crack the top 20, a lot of people still hold on to the old versions)

Yeah, but GRAW and BF2 aren't exactly the same kind of game. GRAW is more tactical, squad based shooter while BF2 is an arcadey shooter. That'd be like comparing Burnout with Forza or Gran Turismo

I'll be picking this up as well. This looks like it should be bigtime fun online. Total chaos with #$%* blowing up everywhere, lol.

I was just watching some trailers/vids on this game and it looks even better than Far Cry on the 360, which I'm a little bit disappointed with.

So I've got this paid off at EB, when are they supposed to get this? Maybe Tuesday night, probably Wednesday?
