World War II FPS on PC?

It has been a while since I purchased a first-person shooter game for PC. I think the last time I played one was when U.S. forces nabbed Saddam (December 2003).

Currently I have been playing Battlefield Modern Combat 2 on PS2 online. Lately, however, I have been watching a lot of Second World War films, given a presentation on the weapons of WWII, and now I feel like picking up a WWII-era FPS on PC (or PS2). The last PC FPS I owned was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

Any suggestions for someone that has been out of the loop for over 2 years? If it helps any, I want something that is fun to play online (PS2 or PC).

The two-game Brothers in Arms series is superb. The first one, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, isn't that great online. But that game and its sequel, Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood, are excellent offline. Great gameplay, great music and sound effects to create atmosphere, and good story.

The BiA series is the closest you're going to get to "Saving Private Ryan" for the PC or PS2.

    Take care,

I feel like picking up a 360 at some point and playing some Call of Duty. I played it for like 10 minutes at Software Etc. and I was just in awe. Of course they had a plasma hooked up to it.

I have a 55" HDTV so I hope it is up to specifications to get the full effect of a 360 (or PS3).

Call of Duty 2 is available for the PC too, and I agree with pk about the BIA series.

If you have a fast PC with a good video card, Call of Duty 2 will looks just as good on your PC and is cheaper.

If not, you're better off getting Call of Duty 1/BIA since you plan on getting a 360 anyway.
