Ubisoft drops Starforce Copy Protection !

Citing "complaints," the publisher ends its relationship with the copyright-protection provider.

I lost a cd drive due to this malware as well as countless others. Now gamers have turned the heat on Publishers who use Starforce to due away with their copy protection. Class action Lawsuits have begun in the State of California because of what this copy protection can do to systems.

Today Ubisoft announced they have dropped Starforce one of the biggest customers for the contriversial copy protection company.

I recieved an email response the other day from 10tacle the softare publisher for Simbin the makers of GTR, GT Lengends and the soon to be released GTR2. They indicated in the email response that they too are considering other copy protection other than Starforce.

I hope they also release a patch to remove the Starforce protection from current games as well.

I know many people (esp. those who play SH3) who have had major problems because of SF.
Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

NCAA: Oklahoma State Cowboys - Michigan Wolverines
    NFL: Houston Texans
    NBA: Houston Rockets
    MLB: Houston Astros
    PSN: Kaiserwilson

Unforunately the only way to completely remove Starforce is to Reformat your hard drive. Even Starforce removal tool is a fraud as it really doesn't remove Starforce.

Once you insert the CD in the drive those Starforce drivers magically reappear. That's another reason the civil lawsuit is ongoing in Cali.
