Just an update on my situation...

I went out today and bought the Intercooler, just incase that had anything to do with it. I came home, hooked it up, and played Oblivion for about an hour before it locked up on me again.

I decided then to call Microsoft. The lady I spoke with asked me how many of the quadrants were lit red back when I got the red ring. I could not remember. She suggested that I try to play the game without the HD hooked up, saying it was possibly a corrupt file that was causing the crashes.

So...I copied my Oblivion save to my memory card, took the HD out, and proceeded to play, uninterupted, for the next 2 and a half hours. I called Microsoft and told them that the trick worked.

They then suggested that I copy any important game saves to a memory card, format the HD, then recopy those files. I followed those instructions and haven't had a lockup yet. That was around noon today, and I've been playing quite a bit.

Hopefully, this was the cause of the crash. We shall see...

I've heard that before, that the 3 red lights may be a corrupt file on the HDD. People have cleaned it up with a backup. I may back up all my saves on to my PC using a memory card and the transfer kit... Just in case. But knock on well, I'm yet to have any lockup's than 1 in GRAW and 1 in NBA2K, both were game related.

agreed. I think people co crazy when they see the 3 redlights, they should just look around for fixes like this, I had 3 redlights on my system when I had a powersurge, but my system was still fine.

I had it when I first turned on my system on launch night. I started to panic and realized I didn't have the A/V cable plugged in all the way. Never seen them sence or even a hitch since.

You had 4 lights then, not 3. 4 lights means the A/V cable isn't in all the way.

I also heard, that 3 redlights could mean, the HD or the power plug..And the HD was your issue, so I think when issue like this happen we all know some fixes now, so I think some of us can rest easy...LOL

Same here....I got the 3 red lights during a thunder storm....most of my power flickered on and off, GRAW locked up and then I got the lights...needless to say i decided to stop playing for the night.

Well guys, it was too good to be true...

XBox locked up on me again tonight. I formatted the HD, tried it again, got another lock up. Took the HD completely out, tried it again, another lockup.

Called the 800 number and they're sending me the empty box to send my unit back. Stinks...but I'm glad I'm getting to use the warranty. I sure as hell am glad I bought it now!

I actually own 2 copies. And I might add, this proves that the airflow, super freeze conducter you added to your 360 did SQUAT.
