Dreamfall - looks comparable to Beyond Good and Evil!

If you didn't play BGAE, well you really missed a very good hidden gem. It was refreshing because it took away all the BS we are starting to associate with gaming these days.

Dreamfall comes out this week, and man this might be the first game to stand next to BGAE. Indigo Prophecy was loaded with wasted potential, I think this game will fufill it.

Here's the IGN screen page(someone post them I'm not good with that)

Just looks like a really immersive experience.

    IGN press summary:

"Get ready for an exciting journey through the twin worlds of science and magic - and beyond! Embark on an epic adventure across continents, and visit exotic locations in an action-packed and emotional storyline.

Dreamfall is a third-person action-adventure set in The Longest Journey universe and featuring three playable characters, dozens of locations spanning three worlds, exciting set-pieces with multiple outcomes, action-packed adventure gameplay, and an epic and emotional storyline. Spanning three worlds, Dreamfall features dozens of exotic locations, from a futuristic Casablanca in Stark, to a magic metropolis in Arcadia; from a strange city at sea, to vast subterranean caverns, and a dark necropolis; from the high-tech halls of a Japanese corporation, to the frightening realm of the Winter."

I think this does have potential.

After owning and playing B&G and Indigo Prohpecy (which is still better than a lot of the fluff games out the past couple years), this will be one of my last XBox 1 games.

I hope it turns out to be decent. As long as I see it get a 7 (since I don't think the "pro" reviews will be open too it. It's not Halo.)

      Sounds better than it looks
Doesn't look as good as BGaE, which was a surprisingly good game.

Greg Kasavin (Gamespot.com) comments about Dreamfall.

I just finished Dreamfall, which ships this week. Considering the quality of the story and presentation of The Longest Journey, its predecessor, I went in with fairly high hopes. I wasn't disappointed. Last night, in fact, I had pretty much become convinced that the game was just utterly amazing. Normally when games have spoken dialogue and subtitles, I honestly tend to skip through a lot of the speech. But this game's dialogue is so good, I did something I've never done in a game before: I turned off the subtitles and just watched and listened. Dreamfall is first and foremost an amazing story. But, man, I wish it went on...

Anyway, I need to play the PC version more (looks even better on the PC but couldn't resist playing on a bigscreen TV) and still need to gather my thoughts before I commit to a review. But here's some informal advice on the side, and what I expect the review is going to boil down to: If you appreciate games for their storytelling ability, you need to play this game. It's exciting, moving, dramatic, funny, scary, touching...seriously.

And yet...damn it. Give me five more hours.

I figured this would be a puzzle and dialogue based adventure game...Not an action-adventure game.

              IGN gives it a 7.5, xbox addict a 9.6.

Interesting to see what Greg will give it. Still getting it though.

Sounds like a rental from the IGN review. I have the demo of the first and it was kinda boring.

Not for me, simply cause games like this don't come around much.

hopefully it will play on the 360 in about 15 years.

Okay, I have to ask..has anyone tried this on the 360 just for the heck of it...any chance it worked?

I can't even find the game for rent or to buy.

I downloaded this from the dashboard the other day and I'm loving it. This is a title I've been meaning to play forever but just never got around to it. I like games like this Indigo Prophecy, Syberia, etc. Are there any 360 games that are similar to it?

Since my previous comments I did eventually find this game to buy and loved it. I went back and played the first one when it became obvious I really should and that was a lot better than the demo indicated. It's probably one of the best videogame stories ever.

The only similar games on 360 I can think of are the Sam & Max games on XBLA but that's just similar play style in that they're both adventure games. Try the demos anyway. There's the CSI games too but they're all point & click. Well Sam & Max are too but there's a character that moves around. Monkey Island as well. The whole genre is pretty much dead. There's a few PC games out there. I'd say check out the demo for Emerald City Confidential, nice twist on The Wizard of Oz. This pile of crap PC can run it so I'm sure yours can.
