Reformating 360 HDD

Does anyone know that if I reformat the 360 HDD will I lose my gamertag achievements? Can I transfer everything to a memory card before reformating?

Metro I've never reformatted my HDD. I think EG said in another thread you can get everything back from Xbox Live. My advice would be to backup everything to your memory card first.

May I ask why you want to reformat your HDD???

On Friday night while playing NBA 2K6, I was getting still shots during halftime and post games replays.

Unless there is a way to fix that.

You may want to clear the cashe before doing a reformat. To do this....reset your Xbox360 and hold down the A button as the game is loading up.

Well Metro... I would assume they're stored on the XBL servers, but I would move that profile to your mem. card just to be sure.

Metro check the MLB2K6 forum under the thread "Freezing Issue Fixed". Alot of the gamers thought this guy was wacked out with his advice. Guess he had the last laugh cause Kush just released a statement that backs what this guy was saying all along. It might help in your situation.

Another thing have you checked the condition of your disk? Any marks or dirt on the shiny side of the cd?

I see, it's just that the procedure listed in the thread causes the 360 memory cache to clear, that's all. It might help with the Replay issue, not sure though.

that cache thing doesn't help with replays... i've tried it a million times...

if u reformat your HDD... you'll just have to recover your xbl account again... but your achievements won't disappear.


if anything, make a back up of all your game saves if you've gotten real far in certain games (Oblivion mainly) and then reformat your HDD... then call M$ to get Hexic HD back (if u play it)

I hate having to do this by reformatting for this but is it something that 2Ksports needs to release a patch for or are we just out of luck?

It should have your acheivments saved. Elsewise, when you're offlien, how could I look at all the games you've done well in that I've not. :wink:

You won't loose your achievmants. I reformatted and still have mine. Only thing I had to do was recover my account which was pretty easy.

The problem with this is that you have to do this everytime you play a game (after turning off the console).

I guess it does work, but there's no chance I'd do this each time I turned my console on to play MLB2K6 (that is, if it were freezing).

I still wonder what is going on with the replays not appearing. How do you recover your gamertag?
