    Warranty for Replaced 360

If we had our 360 replaced during the 90 day warranty period, is there an extension of the warranty period from the time I receive the new 360? In other words, if I bought my 360 in January and had it replaced in February, is there a new 90 day period that runs from February? Can someone direct me to where this says so?

Nope, you paid for one unit, you get one warranty from original purchase date.

Are you sure? In Canada at least if you get something replaced, the warranty starts over from the date of replacement. It has nothing to do with how many units you paid for. Company X provides you with a product that it gurantees to be free from defects for X days. If the unit changes then the new unit still has to be free of defects for that same amount of days.

Otherwise, it would be easy for manufacurers to abuse the system and just recycle defective units to customers as they'd know that once the warranty periode has passed, the customers won't be able to return them anymore. So they'd take the defective unit from customer A and send it to customer B and vice versa. Do this for 3 months and you've got 2 customers who have to buy new systems. That'd be a huge loophole and you can bet it'd be exploited.

Furthermore, on several items, there is what's called "reasonnable" usage warranty or something like that. Say you bought a TV and the manufacturer gives you a one-year warranty on it. Your TV fails after 18 moonths. The manufacturer will claim your warranty is over. However, you could take it to court and if the "reasonnable" usage or whatever it's called on TVs is legally 3 years then the manufacturer will be ordered to replace your TV. Many people don't know this. This is why you should NEVER buy an extended warranty as the manufacturer or store is basically charging you for something that they'd legally be obliged to anyway, though it can be a hassle. Of course, this is in Canada and I don't know about the U.S. laws pertaining to this.

I don't think game systems are covered by this though.

When I got my replacement 360, microsoft told me in writing that my warrenty is from the replaement not the original.
