    XBOX 360/Samsung tx-p3064W PROBLEMS?

Hi there, I just got an xbox 360 and have the correct setting selected for my tv. (widescreen, 1080 format)

I have already made some changes to the factory settings, which i did a few months ago, that got rid of dark black edges, improved color, clarity, etc. .etc.. Basically the TV is looking great.

However, this is something i slightly noticed at times with the xbox, and nwo that everything is in 1080 as well as widescreen, it has become a problem sometimes small, somtimes larger for every game.

The problem is when playing any gamethe left and right screen edges are cut off. In the game Oblivion when there is text on the bottom right corner there are about 2 to 3 letters that are not showing, and in PGR rhe 1st and 2nd place, and finish text is very much cut off for the far left and right.

Now I was just wondering iff someone could tell me which setting i need to adjust to fix this so i can get all the text and everything on the screen to properly display?

    Thank you.

Make sure your TV is set to normal "widescreen" and not some kind of zoom widescreen format.

If you're still having the problem, it sounds like it may be an overscan problem. The only way to adjust it is to go into your TV's hidden service menu. I don't recommend messing around in there unless you really know what you're doing, though, because any adjustments made in there can really screw things up (and ruins any kind of warranty on some TVs). You can hire people to come professionally calibrate your TV and they use the service menu and other equipment to do it.

I have already done the service menu a few months back and it made a world of difference. as far as I know my tv is selected to a regular widescreen. With regards to the service menu, I was just trying to find out which setting needs to be adjusted to fix the screen.

For the videogame output though, the TV doesnt allow me to choose widescreen, only panarama. That could be the issue there, and im not really sure why it does that.

did you change the settings on your xbox for widescreen? i'm sure you did that, but some people forget about that. also, try setting your tv at 720p and see if that makes a difference

The tv is now set at widescreen for all components, so that shouldnt be a problem, but the issue is still occuring. and for the 360 it is set at 1080 and widescreen. I cant set it to 720 as this tv only supports 480 and 1080.

Dumb question but is your switch on the component cable for your 360 set to HD and not SD?

well I think PGR can only be played in 720p, read the back of the game, PGR3 does not support 1080 I believe.

I thought the 360 did all the upscaling for you.

Be mindful, that before you change any fields via the Service Menu write them down, so if anything happens you can always go back.

The option your looking for is the "H Size" Field.. This will stretch or unstretch the picture, this way everything fits on the screen.

You also may want to move the "H Position" Field. This will make both sides of the picture even.
