i got a quick question for the techies of the board or anyone that knows...i'm getting ready to travel overseas and am planning on bringing my xbox 360 and ps2 with me. i was wondering if when they run the x-ray machine on your bags if whether or not that can affect your system or not? i'm just worried that it will screw up my 360 or ps2....i've never traveled by plane with my ps2 or xbox 360, but i plan to live overseas for the year (or longer) so i decided to bring them along. so i guess, anyone who has traveled domestic or internationally with their gaming machines, any info would be great...thanks for the help...

International Travel with XBOX 360 and PS2.
fellas,

Re: International Travel with XBOX 360 and PS2.
also, another quick question...obviously, we are going to have to buy a tv overseas as well...will it be okay to hook up the xbox 360 and ps2 bought over here in the u.s. to a tv we buy over there OR will there be some technological issues with that? sorry if these are stupid questions...any info. would be great. -
Re: International Travel with XBOX 360 and PS2.
If I recall correctly the TVs over there are PAL...
Here it's NTSC... so you'd not be able to bring your console over there unless you had a TV that you bought here and a power plug adapter that would convert the power of the TV to what they use over there.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

I would imagine the X-Ray could damage/erase the 360 HD in a worse case scenario.Joshua:

Re: International Travel with XBOX 360 and PS2.
luckily, i was told about this website:
and apparently, tv's over in the philippines are ntsc just like the one's here in the u.s. and plus, i was told that there is a "duty" free store where you can buy U.S. television sets, etc...but only have a 48 hour time limit while you are in the country...
so u think my hard drive could get erased?Comment

your ps2 is fine and xbox will be fine. I've been to PI with my nintendo, genesis, and dreamcast. I've given away my gamecube over there too. But as far as the harddrive, i would pack that with you as a cary on. That should be safe since people bring laptops all the time.Comment

Re: International Travel with XBOX 360 and PS2.
I've traveled with my ps2 overseas with no problems. be travelling with xbox 360 soon. The x-rays don't seem to damage hdd. laptop and flash cards go into x-ray all the time with no problems. recommend that you hand carry your xbox though. I would advise against putting it in your check-in baggage. most asian countries are ntsc, so no problems there. most asian countries are 220v, so don't forget to pick up a stepdown voltage converter. remember the xbox 360 is 230watts if i remeber correctly, so make sure your voltage converter is rated for at least 500w.Last edited by dougbrad81; 04-30-2006, 10:17 PM.Comment
