I see. So you choose to ignore the much more positive IGN review. Well, if it fits your uninformed opinion, so be it.

I played the game for about 3 hours last night. All I can tell you is it is fun and not nearly as hard to get a handle on the controls or camera as that review makes it out to be. And after about 8 hours of play, I have gotten "stuck" by a glitch 1 time. Hardly the bug-fest they make it out to be. But don't take my word for it; go over to gamefaqs and check out the message board: Overwhelmingly positive.

Personally, I would give the game a 7.0 out of 10. Just for comparisons sake, I spent 60 bucks on Blazing Angels for the 360, and JAWS is a much more enjoyable game to me, and at half the price.

If you want to slag off on the game, be my guest. But when you do so without playing it at all, and cherry-pick a negative review to back you up, it doesn't do a whole lot for your credibility.

And I don't mean to start anything, Boltman. I respect you for all the stuff you add to the board, especially about soccer and rugby. I just think you are being really unfair in this case.

      I bought the game....

I refused to look at reviews for the game and i'd just buy it and play it on it's own accord.

After playing it for about 4hrs....
The tutorial the begining was kind of nice to have since when you get thrown in the Sea World place, you'll die quite a few times until you get better with the controls....

Controls... if ANYONE has played Ecco the Dolphin on the Dreamcast or PS2, you will feel right at home.

Graphics... any review that says it looks like a PS1 game, is just ragging on the game for jackoff reasons.

      I'd give it a 7.

I've not since a glitch yet in my 4hrs.

the 3.8 review is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY OFF.

        Re: IGN JAWS Unleashed Preview

This game seems to be getting decent reviews from people that have played it and not counting sites like Gamespot which totally bashed it. I trust both Quint's and DXZ's opinions that this game is good. Even IGN & Team XBOX gave it an average score which is good to see.

If this game came out at $50 than I can see why people could be possibly mad, but at $30 it's not too bad of a price.

I'm still debating if I will get this or not. I have a few questions.

        How large is the environment?

Do the missions vary or do they get repetitve like many other "sandbox" games?

Are there an extras to unlock?

          Re: IGN JAWS Unleashed Preview

The gaming environment is pretty darned big. There are quadrants that surround Amity Island, and each is pretty large. They don't look that much different, but they do have different sorts of boats and animal life in the waters. Considering that it takes a while to swim from one end of a quadrant to another, I think the area is quite sufficiently large.

I have done actual 5 missions. They are varied, though you're limited simply by how much the shark can do. Some of the missions have been pretty good, some merely OK. There are side challenges throughout the game, and each one has 3 levels of difficulty. For example, one of the challenges is to kill 3 lifeguards before they make it back to shore. The 2nd level is 4 lifeguards, the 3rd is 5. There are about 30 such side challenges throughout the game. What these do is give you points. When a certain number of points is accumulated, you can spend them to increase one of the shark's attributes. It's fun trying to max out the shark. You can also add points (more slowly) in free-roam mode, just chomping on whatever you come across. You can spend a lot of time in that mode.

Unlockables include clips from the original JAWS movie. There are also some items that you can collect that give you a "reward" when you get all of them. What that reward is, I don't know; I haven't gotten all of the items.

For 30 bucks, you can't miss on this game. It's all a bit simple, though figuring out the puzzles to solve the missions can be tough. It's just a fun, entertaining game. Nothing earth-shattering, but I would give it a solid 7.0 out of ten. If you liked the movie JAWS at all, or just like shark's, it's a no-brainer, IMHO.

          Hope that helps!

                Re: IGN JAWS Unleashed Preview

Jaws is not a horrible game by any means.

Now there's 2 games out in the past couple months where I think the majority of reviews have been harsh.

First it was Rampage on the PS2 and now Jaws.

The game level is really big. I had been just free roaming and I came up to the areas where you can advance to other sections of the island. You could see bigger and tougher sharks, whales, and boats... Even just the first area you can explore is Huge. We're talking in the GTA ballpark for level size.

I really don't have much else to say since defending a game is impossible.

I'm 12% through after 5hrs and not one lock up for me yet. I've not gotten stuck yet either.

I'd give it a 7. No higher, No lower.
