Virtua Fighter 5 to be a PS3 Exclusive !

So says Eurogamer. http://eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=64383 My favorite fighting series and no surprise really from this announcement. One more reason to pickup a PS3.


"SEGA has announced that the fifth instalment in the Virtua Fighter series will be arriving next year - and that it'll be available exclusively for PlayStation 3.

Virtua Fighter 5 will feature 17 playable characters in total, including many old friends as well as two newcomers. El Blaze is a Mexican wrestler who favours the Lucha Libre fighting style, while Chinese-born martial arts expert Eileen prefers Monkey Kung Fu, a style she was taught by her dear old grandad.

You'll be able to customise your chosen character, selecting from four different costumes and a wide range of extra items. These items can be purchased at the in-game shop, but of course you'll need to compete for prize money before you can get your hands on them.

Other new features will include the 'Offensive Move', a new manoeuvre that lets you attack your opponents from the side. This adds a whole new element of strategy to battles, according to SEGA.

This is one of those fighting games I've never liked or got into. Same with Dead or Alive and Tekken , I've tried, but in the end, they just aren't as fun as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat...to me anyway.

Yeah I see what you mean it's either a love or hate kinda fighter. The thing that draws me to the VF games is the very good AI and the fighting is less over the top than say Tekken, Street Fighter or MK.

Don't get me wrong I love those fighters too especially SF when you pull off a combo. And I love MK Deception lots-o-stuff in that one. MK Puzzle is super fun.

I will agree 100%, I bought DOA4 and played it 2 times, I always buy these games and when I know that I won't play them, it's just stupid of me. Tryst me I won't be doing that anymore, I've learned my lesson.

Totally agree, the Tekken's, VF's, and DOA's are more "real" per say, while the SF's and MK's are more fantasy, button mashers. I think SF and MK just appeal to me more due to all the quarters I dropped on them in the arcade.

The fighting genre is practically dead at this point, but Virtua Fighter is probably the best of them followed by Tekken. I've considered picking up the last VF or Tekken a few times since they're so cheap now but unless you have a friend who is into them they aren't as much fun. I remember putting a lot of time into the old Mortal Kombat games and the first three Tekken games.

I've loved the Virtua Fighter series ever since the days of Sega Saturn. The fighting engine as evolved into one of my all-time favs, can't wait for VF 5.

i personally really enjoy the Soul Calibur series much more than any other fighter, but VF2 was awesome back in the day...really revolutionary given the competition still being 2D

VF4: Evo is a complete game, and still is the best fighter around in most areas. What will this game REALLY do to seperate itself from Evo(or final tuned)?

It's not online. Yes the gameplay would be crippled with the lag(much more then the less complex MK), but finding VF comp is not easy at all.

Well that sucks. Guess I can hope for Fighters Megamix in the arcade on XBL.
