Microsoft first? I'm not surprised considering the source, but the general buzz I'm getting from Gamespot and other places is that the Microsoft's press conference was mostly pointless and just a place to show off some trailers (of mostly CG). They're two biggest games, Halo 3 and Gears of War, weren't off the charts impressive. GOW looked good at a standstill but the framerate was atrocious and they really didn't show anything for Halo 3 besides an insanely brief clip that wasn't even good as a teaser (Bungie needs to take lessons from Kojima).
I thought as a whole, all of the press conferences were lacking in key areas. I got bored with the GT4-HD demonstration (among other things - It's Ride Racer!) during the Sony conference, I no longer can tohlerate the word "we" after the Nintendo one, and I feel like I need to be a drunk frat boy to find the MS one enjoyable. I'll give the nod to Nintendo only because they showed the most gameplay about a system that still was mostly in the dark, though the lack of an announced price and release date was dissapointing. I'd actually put the Sony conference second, because towards the end it was gaining some steam (then they unveiled the price and high-tailed it before the jaws could hit the floor) and then Microsoft third because they didn't show me anything I wasn't expecting (oh boy, games on my cell phone...and someone please shoot Cliffy B or whatever his name was). I hope E3 brings some sick impressions of games I'm currently not excited about, because right now I'm mostly jaded.Comment

I think they could have created the perfect game and you would have voted against them. Don't knock someone for being loyal to a console when you obviously are loyal to one yourself.Comment

And 3 million xbox live users right now, and 6 million by next E3 is just amazing if you ask anyone, Sony will be lucky so come this close even with free service.Last edited by RoyalBoyle78; 05-10-2006, 09:05 AM.N.Y Mets

Re: So who won the battle of the press conferences?
Who won? For me it was MS, but then I do have a bias towards them, because I like what they've done with the Xbox platform. A home-grown console that's tailored toward the western gamer. I certainly don't hate Sony or Nintendo, but I do want MS to succeed. I'd put Nintendo second, because of the innovation, and Sony third, since thier conference disappointed a lot of fans. In the end, all three of these platforms are going to offer great games and new experiences, so I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them. Just depends on your tastes.XBL: Mean Greene
