LOL at thinking i am rich, last time i checked i was living in the slums of Brooklyn NYC. All i know is that if you haven't been saving since the day PS3 was announced at E3 2005, then ya i guess this could be alot to take.

I personally didnt expect it to be this high but then i started to think of all the stuff i just mentioned and $599 Is not that bad of a deal after all. If you have a job and save 50 or 100 from the pay check, like i been doing this $599 price tag is not that extreme.

people will have there opinions on the price no matter what, I say if you have the money saved and you don't mind, then hey, more power to you..Just enjoy your purchase no matter what anyones else thinks.

If you believe you are getting a same quality Blu Ray player as a $1000 player, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Funny, I watched the entire press conference, backwards compatibilty wasn't mentioned once, unless I missed something. Not saying it won't have it, but it wasn't mentioned.

What do you know?, i dont know either but i aint going to make baseless statements like that, all i said was you get a $1000+ BR player pointing out the PLAYER more then anything. Meaning i can buy a next gen dvd movie watch it, without having to spend more money to buy some add on( like 360 ).

It's too expensive because of the Blue Ray player I will never use. And I own an HDTV............Add in the 80% who don't own an HD and it's worthless.

It's not any better than 360.
Most of the games will also be on 360.
The controller apprently isn't very good.
Nothing really new or innovative.
$600 and $700 in Canada.

The only good news that came out of it for me was there'll be wired controllers.

bottom line for me, I can careless about a Hd-DVD player or A Blue-Ray player, I just bought a $200 DVD player to go along with my HDTV this past winter, so i will be watching DVD for quite some time. I for one am not a person who really watches many DVD movies anyway.

SMH yes it was, he stated it in the big huge SCREEN behind him, also it was already mentioned last years E3 and last years tokyo game show. So dont worry they aint pulling a Microsoft, they had no experience with BC and it showed, SONY in the other hand know how to pull it off as they proved with PS2. So remember the tokyo game show will come and so will more stuff about PS3, they didnt say it all at E3 you know.

Then by all means, if you can save for it, go for it. I have a family of 5 and having 2 next gen systems is way too rich for my accountant wife. I'm fortunate we squeezed the 360 out of her.

My kids like to play games and watch their dvd movies on a dvd player. I don't think they heard of blu-ray, I didn't hear of it till Sony, and I don't care to update for reasons stated above.

That's a perspective from a parent with a 2 paycheck family.

WIFI built in the PS3

FREE Online Gaming

Wireless Control with new tech

as you can see that is alot of stuff for just $640 bucks( with a few games and a control i say $800?. I know for a fact many have spent VERY close to that for a xbox 360 and heck some even on PS2 when it came out and was hard to find. As you can see None of those two have anything that i just mentioned, so just look at it that way and you can see it is not THAT bad.

i doubt very seriously you're getting a $1000 Blu-ray system, if so, Sony is even more out of their mind. You probably can compare the blu-ray with the PS3 to the 49.99 budget dvd player.

I don't care about all the other things you list. I just want to play games. Why do I need a 60gb HD? This thing is not like a PC, where I would use the space. If the developers don't take advantage of it, it's overkill.

I'm skeptical about the backwards compatibility.

Hmm, Sony also said Dual HDMI outputs...gone. They said no chance they were doing 2 SKU's...hmm, 2 SKU's. Just saying, Sony isn't very reliable to their word.

Never said that, i said that you will have atleast a 800 dollar version of those $1500 versions.


In case you didnt realize, the fact it has a BR player is THE MAIN REASON it cost $499 and $599, if it has a regular dvd like xbox 360 then it could had been $299 and $399 to you know that right?.

Sony with PS3 is planning to keep it around for 10 years, they aint coming out with PS4 in 5 years, if anything the next Xbox which is coming in less then 5 years( knowing MS, dont be surprise) with HD-DVD Format Drive.
