    OS E3 Impressions Update #1 - Updated 5:45pm EST

I finally made it after a 6 hour flight from the East Coast and I wanted to check in with a quick update:

I got a chance to play an entire game of Madden 07 on the 360 and like everything there are some positives and negatives. The positives are the improvements to the running and kicking games. The kicking game is now controlled by the right anaolg stick and youi use it similar to the swing on Tiger Woods meaning you pull back on the stick and then move back up quickly. It will take some getting used to but after a first impression, I like it alot. The running game is MUCH improved. Honestly, it reminded me of the running game on NFL 2k5 with players getting skinny etc. Also they added new running animations to get around blockers so it looks like Mario running may officially be gone.

The major negatives I found was the fact that it looks similar to Madden 06 and the ball seems to float on deep passes. Keep in mind this is only after 1 game played. I'll be back around 4 PST with a longer update.

    Update 2 5:45 EST

I'm back with another quick update: Just left the EA booth and I really liked NCAA 07. The graphics look amazing from the stadiums to the player models to the mascots. It just looks fantastic. The game feels alot like last year's Xbox version and imo thats a good thing. Gameplay wise, there were a few hiccups though. Running the option, the game stuttered a little and its clear that they are still working on the game. There are some new tackle animations but most of the old ones are still in there. I also saw some clipping issues but they didnt happen that often.

I have some good news and bad news for most people. In the 3 quarters of football I saw there was no suction blocking. The bad news is gang tackling wasnt added and I didnt see the new running animations found in Madden in NCAA 07.

Also EA created 70 stadiums but I cant figure out what they used to determine which schools would get offcial stadiums. I played with Maryland and I exepected them to have a real stadium because they are in the ACC. Nope. Byrd Stadium not only isnt in the game but EA assigned the the Akron Zips's stadium. On top of that, the only thing that makes it MD's stadium is the field. You can still see some signs that say Go Zips around the stadium. Its a small issue but I hope they change it for the final version.

Wooo...sounds good. I didn't mind the passing game in 06...so hopefully they just fine tune that for the final build, but the running game sounds good.

And it sounds like it'll take a bit to get used to the new kicking controls, but they do sound cool.

Yeah, the blocking is a big question. My biggest question is whether the Madden tackling "feels" like the tackling in the 2K engine. This is key. Thanks.

Glad to see rushing is improved. I didnt' have any qualms with passing last year either.

I sure as heck hope they fixed the "get sacked while throwing animation is going on and it's a fumble" crap. I think nearly every online game I played so far has had a fumble returned for a TD because of that bug.

Exactly what everyone is interested in knowing!?? Why does it seem like everyone is dodging these questions?? Is there Gang-Tackling, New Physics, No suction blocking, etc.. Seems like a very easy question to answer??

It will be posible to ask to EA dev if they include offline 2 coop players on 360 ? as it was on current gen?

I like to play with my bro on the same team but it´s not posible on 360 madden 06 version.

1-4 players to be exact... not 1-2 players as it´s now.

                  Calm down...
He never said he was taking questions. He's only been in LA for a couple hours, and took the time to offer some quick impressions. I'm sure he'll address it when he gets the chance.

Just wondering if you could comment on the graphics? Any updates such as the mentioned "new grass feature?" Thanks.

Did you try the ps3 version out? Same thing as 360 i assume?

NICE!! Looks like both games are heading in the right direction. Player interaction is being addressed. We still need gang tackles and physics, but I know they can't fix everything in one year.

Great reporting . . . I'll be waiting for more. Sometimes I like reading internet info on gaming more than actually playing the games

I'm sure it is since Lane Stadium is one of the 25 toughest places to play. I'm guessing that was a part of the initial criteria, and the other stadiums must be located near these spots or have some sort of significance to their location. (i.e. NFL teams playing in the same stadium or even a new stadium being built ala Arizona State.)
