    X-Men III Impressions

I'm the best at what I do BUB!

    Good impression wakka wakka wakka

My video store got this game early and I played about it for about two hours. Here are some quick impressions:

+I love the camera angle. In the previous X-men games the camera was never quite right. Medium was fine, but I wanted to see more of the action and the close-up was too close. In the movie game they have it just right and I can see a good deal of the action as well as where enemies and obstacles are.

+The graphics on the 360 are nice. They did a good job of at least making the game look better on the 360.

+Nightcrawler's controls rock. They really did an incredible job with him.

-The game is a bit dull and uninspired. After two hours of play I haven't had much fun. The Wolverine parts are dull and his controls are so-so at best. I remember reading an interview with this writer, who took Claremont's story and turned into gameplay, saying he didn't believe games can have emotional content.....well it shows..the writing is dull as hell but there is a promising story underneath.

-No cutscene movies. WTF??? They have comic like stills of the actors with their voice overs. If I didn't think the game was rushed before, I know it was now with the exclusion of in-game movies.

Well there you have it some quick hits from the gallery. I am glad I rented this puppy.

Well, I get not having movie scenes, since Nightcrawler is a game character, but he's not in the movie at all.

That sucks.....he was the most intriguing character in X2....with the mix of characters, they could almost stand to go as long as LOR movies.

This game is supposed to explain why he is not in the movie.

So is it redicously difficult like Wolverines Revenge?

You thought Wolverine's Revenge was difficult? I remember beating that in a night.

I hear the Iceman levels in this game stink. The graphics look nice though.

Two levels after the three tutorial levels and I was already sick of it.

I remember not being able to beat the first level but I don't remember why. Think it was landmine related.

This game is as uninspired as I have seen in some time.

I rented it on regular Xbox since before renting it I saw it was only about 2-3 hours long. It's too easy with Iceman and Nightcrawler and a bit difficult with Wolvie,to quote the game as to why "Knives at a gunfight huh?". It's fine with Nightcrawler since he can easily avoid the gunfire.

Uninspired is a good way to put it. It's not exactly bad but it's not what I'd call good either.

After an hour or so, my take is :

Nightcrawler is a blast to play with, Iceman feels more like a flying game, and Wolvies levels are repetitive as hell. This is a definite rental, but there are a few "wow" moments. I'd say 7/10

Upon futher play I think it's terrible and I hate it. I'm starting to think we only get one great movie game per generation and this ain't it.
