Can Someone Tell Me Graphically How They Stack Up?

Please, not trying to start any negative comments. Just straight up if someone can tell us how the PS3 stacks up graphically compared to the 360. For months we've been without the info. Now that the PS3 has made its appearance at E3, what did we learn? Big difference? Keep it civil.

Joe you know better than that man, asking a question like that...j/k. We don't know yet and won't know till the PS3 gets released with retail games. The games that were shown at E3 with the exception Assasins Creed and one or two other games were decent, nothing special.

At this point with the system waiting for release in November/December all those games that looked decent might turn out to look great or they may not. We really won't know for sure till later this year. Trailers and videos don't count in my book.

My guess is that the PS3 and 360 will be fairly close in overall game appearance and performance.

Hard to tell. Killzone 2 wasn't on show, so one would assume the infamous trailer really was CG video.

If you look at their games, they seem about on par with the 360. Many developers have said the same too.

For me, there will be a difference, at least technically.

The PS3 uses a directX9 Nvidia graphics chip. 360 uses an ATI directX10 chip.

There are many devs saying DirectX10 is the new standard as far as water, physics, particles, effects, etc go. So just how the PS3 will make up for it remains to be seen.

I guess you can learn something everyday cause I wasn't aware of that.

I've seen screen shots of Microsoft Flight Simulator X running under directX10 and it looks not stunning but simply amazing.

The PS3 has more horse power, and the impressions at the show were that most of the expected launch PS3 games look better than the launch 360 games. However, the best looking games of 2006 will most likely be on the 360 and even though the PS3 has a little more juice there is no guarantee most developers will be able to get the most out of the machine.

If you want my opinion, their too close in ability and performance to really factor in graphical quality when pitting the two consoles against each other. With these consoles we're pretty much at the point where graphics don't matter because even the average game will look excellent.

Xenos is not a DX10 based chip, but is designed with many DX10 elements in mind with a console as the target platform.

Fair enough but ATI were recently talking about their upcoming card for PC and they said it will be based upon the 360 chip, which is cool to know in terms of judging the 360's power and future proof technology.

PS3 will be superior graphically, but not nearly $200 better. Plus I highly doubt Sony can pull off an online service as stable as Xbox live.

The one game that I thought looked incredible for PS3 was Resistence, You get what you pay for and there is nothing that would suggest PS3 to be monumentally better then 360.

I suggest you goto a site like www.gametrailers.com and check out the HD movies to see more games.

360 has the slight advantage in the GPU

PS3 has the slight advantage in AI & Physics.

Too close to call. I would pick a system based on first party and exclusive titles. I already have a 360 and love it. I can't fathom spending $600 on another system so I'll pick up the Wii. Nintendo really impressed me at E3.

I don't know what everyone is looking at, but every 360 game at E3 looked better then the PS3's game. And you can't use the excuse that the 360 was out longer because you can look at screens from Madden 06 on the 360 and compare them to Madden 07 on the PS3 and they look like **** on the PS3.
