Buying a 360, what should I look out for?
I am seriously considering purchasing an Xbox 360 premium in the next week or so and my question is are there any problems I should have with the system? Also, I play NCAA football and occasionally Madden, what type of set up should I get? Also, what is one game that I must purchase that is non-sports? I am thinking of getting an extra wireless controller, should I also get the plug and play or just use the AA battteries? I am planning on using it as a DVD player as well, so should I get the universal dvd remote from microsoft or should I get the cheaper one from an alternate brand? Thanks in advance for commenting and all of your suggestions.Tags: None -

I'd get the plug and play. You can charge it on your usb port on the 360 or on your computer.
Ghost Recon and Call Of Duty are my 2 favorite non sports games. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: Buying a 360, what should I look out for?
As of right now you should have no problems, as indicated by the lack of hardware complaints. I think MS got to the bottom of the hardware issues by now. My 360 is a launch unit, knock on wood has been perfect.
For added protection I would suggest purchasing a 2 year extended warranty from Microsoft or if you purchase it from Circuit City or Best Buy they sell them as well. For the record Microsoft's extended warranty is the better deal.
As added protection and to be on the safe side I purchased a Nyko Intercoller 360 which helps keep the machine running cooler.Comment

3 red lights is what you need to watch out for. Other than that things should be fine.
One non sports game? Well if I could only keep one of mine (3/8 are sports games, defintion of sport pending) I'd probably keep DOA 4 but that's me and I like fighting games a lot. If I didn't like fighting games so much I'd probably keep G.R.A.WComment

Well if you are going to be playing NCAA whenever it comes out and want to play with the rosters.. get the transfer kit and memory card. You need just one plug and play kit, another rechargeable battery pack and a extra wireless controller. As for the non-sports game, depending the type of games you like I'd say GRAW or Oblivion. Also, if you have a non-HDTV and a nice LCD for your PC, I'd recommend the VGA cables as well.
I have no clue on which remote is the best, I got the one that was included in the bundle at launch.Comment

Re: Buying a 360, what should I look out for?
Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. I wasn't planning on getting a warranty, but now I will get one for sure. What is the memory transfer thing called? I had one for Xbox and used FairdaleKings rosters and I know that I cannot go without them for 07.
Also, has anybody heard/played Battlefield 2? I have always liked RPG games, but I am kind of sketchy about getting one with the 360 because the game doesn't sound real deep for the price of $60.Comment

There's an online demo for Battlefield. It was ok I guess but it didn't make me buy it or even rent it.
Oblivion doesn't sound deep? I'm guessing that's what you're talking about because it's the only RPG out over here. Oblivion is so deep some people have played it for 30 hours and are still in the kiddie pool.Comment

I'm getting one soon also. A couple of questions:
1)Does the Premium 360 come with a wireless controller?
2)Also, whats the difference between a XB360 Live 12 Month Gold Card and Xbox 360 Live 12 Month Gold Kit? Which one is a better buy?Comment

2. Not 100% sure about this but I think the card is just the card but it comes with a bonus month. The kit comes with the headset, card (no bonus, well I don't think so anyway) and $20 off 360 game.Comment

Re: Buying a 360, what should I look out for?
Thanks guys for helping me out and I just picked up a 360 premium system on Friday at Fry's electronics. I got the premium system in a bundle with Burnout Revenge and Madden 06 for 449. I thought it was a pretty good deal and I plan on selling Burnout because I have no interest in the game and I can get around $40 for it on ebay.Comment

Hope you are enjoying your system. I would have waited till July for NCAA and passed on Madden, but that is while to go without a pigskin title. The Table Tennis game is coming out Tuesday. You might want to wait for some impressions from OS forum members.Comment
