Question about PS2 laser ribbon cable

Fellaz, i just noticed that my ribbon cable has been disconnected from the motherboard of my PS2...my question is how in the hell do ya get this ribbon back in the micro slot, and what do you use to connect this...I've tried to put this thing back in the slot by hand and it seems freakin' IMPOSSIBLE to do!! Any help here? Thanks

Well...you posted this in the wrong forum, for starters. OS Neighborhood? Try Non-Sports Gaming. Don't worry. I'll move it.

Ok here's the deal with those cables and connectors. If you look down at the connector it pulls apart i.e. opens. The best example I could give you is that of a garage door. You have to open it so you can bring your car in. That's the way the cable/connector works. Without opening or releasing the connector you won't be able to get the cable in the connector. Keep in mind they open slightly, enough for the cable to fit. Then you'll close the connector.

Connectors release or open in different ways. The best way to figure out which way it releases is to use a magnifying glass because they are hard to see. These are split connectors meaning they separate or open in halves. Either it opens from pulling the front part slighty up or slighty away from the connector.

This is where the magnifying glass comes in handy cause you'll see the split in the connector much easier. When inserting the cable make sure it's seated correctly.

        Hope this helps.
