Tiger Woods for $28 may be a good pickup.

I know this maybe OT but i've been noticing this happen alot more lately with the store chains like CC, ToysRus etc. This is one reason why I think the days of specialty stores like EB/Gametop maybe numbered.

I recently purchased DQVIII for $40 at EB, past the 14 days and don't have the receipt. One month later and this game is $10 sheez.

I doubt they will go away anytime soon. Since there are eb's & gs's in malls also.

Agreed but i'm being alot more careful now seeing these sales happen more frequently. I was going to pickup the NSMB at EB for $34.99, then I found out that CC had it on sale for $27.99, I bought it there instead.

The only game that intrigues me is HL2 for $10 and I wish now I had held off from buying DQVIII.

I agree with you. Two EB's by me closed so did a GS. They aren't even close to being as busy as they used to be. Both my BB and CC are getting games day and date now.

You think they might have closed because of the merger and that was part of their plan?

I know my EB at the mall was being considered to close cause there was GS there as well. They decided to leave the names as is so both stayed open.

Can't really say. One closed 2 weeks before Xmas last year, other closed the week of New Year's. Seems an odd time to close them. The final one closed in April. The GameRush by me closed as well.

That sucks about NBA Live. At that price I would have picked it up, used Playmakers edits and been good to go. But I just got NBA 2k6 the other day.

Wow that's interesting then. I guess it's just not EB/GS if a GameRush suffered the same fate.

I think the Specialty Stores really aren't offering much of a value anymore. I now tend to wait for a sale like at a CC where last week I bought Rise of Legends for $34.99

With the announcements in 2006 from the big publishers i.e. EA and Microsoft regarding digital distribution I think the Specialty stores must be getting a little nervous. Add into the mix how wildly popular XBLA is and it's all about 100% digital distribution.

I believe this is showing other publishers that D.D. is truly the wave of the future cause the smaller pubs no longer need shelf space at a retailer anymore.

Yes, it's due to merger because there were 2 Gamestops (1 in mall/1 outside) + 1 EB within 3 miles of each other by me. They closed the EB since 3 stores was too much the RM told me.

I think that this will continue as they will start to close down the stores that aren't profitable when there are 2 or more in an area.

I also agree that BB & CC is really placing a damper on specialty stores w/ weekly deals.

Definitely looks like some good deals, but with Gamefly I no longer need to purchase games (well, except for must-buys on release). The only thing I need a deal on is the Guitar Hero game w/ guitar controller, since you can't get that through Gamefly.
