Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced a long-term worldwide licensing agreement with Touchstone Television to develop and publish a video game based on the Emmy Award-winning television series ‘Lost.’ Developed by Ubisoft’s award-winning Montréal studio and scheduled to hit retail shelves worldwide in 2007, the game will be offered for home and portable consoles as well as PCs.

On the latest Official Lost Podcast, Carlton and Damon said Lost will be coming to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this year.

Ubisoft showed them a demo and they said it was good.

I just wonder what kind of game will it be. Is their going to be flashbacks? Is the story going to be closely tied in to Season 3? What characters can you use?

I'm thinking the only way this game could be good is if it's a totally different story, with different characters than that of the show.

How else could they make this game good? Will the producers of Lost let them reveal the end plot before the show wraps up?
Will they make up their own theory and ending to what the show is doing?
Will there be a number of useless quests to complete where the characters are incredibly annoying to the point where you want to shoot Jack in the head?

Most likely that will be the case.

If they went with a different story with different characters then it wouldn't be Lost.

Chances are the game won't be good but I'm still very interested because I'm such a big fan of the show.

Okay, but what if it took place on the other side of the island with a totally different group of losties. Say the remains of a capsized ship?

I still don't think that would be good. This type of game would be like Enter The Matrix (the Matrix game that didn't even let you use Neo).

I could see the Lost game letting you use the Losties but with a different side story.

But that sounds boring to me as you couldn't possibly get a conclusion. It would just be like a lot of their 'filler' shows where you do a bunch of random crap that doesn't have anything to do with the true meaning behind the island and it's mysteries.

“The sense of adventure and suspense that we strive for in the show is also captured in the Lost video game,” said Lindelof and Cuse. “Ubisoft has done a fantastic job and come up with a game that is visually amazing and imaginative both on its own and as an extension of the world of the show.”

Players will assume the role of a passenger on the ill-fated Oceanic flight 815 who survives the crash and is stranded on the uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean. As the player begins to unravel mysteries of the island, new secrets about your character are revealed. Players will have to understand their character’s past mistakes in order to survive and find their way home.

The game will incorporate familiar locations and will feature main characters from the show. Gameplay will involve solving puzzles, outsmarting enemies, battling the smoke monster, and overcoming many other challenges to survive the island and ultimately come out alive.

Wow that trailer looked good but I have never watched Lost.
