Flight SIm X and Crysis in order to look it's best will need Windows Vista, directX and a PC overhaul. This is where consoles are the best value. IOW it would take 3-4 Premium PS3's for what it will take the average gamer to make his Windows Vista gaming rig truly worthy and enjoy the next level of gaming.
Do you think PC gaming is making a comeback?

Re: Do you think PC gaming is making a comeback?
Originally posted by RodsterI agree there's no way a PC will last 2 years and run games at max settings. I've been building PC gaming rigs for over 10 years. You can get 5 years out of a setup but you'll sacrifice alot of enjoyment out of the latest games.

True...and I've always said this.....CONSOLE GAMING IS HOLDING BACK the progress of gaming. If games were only developed for the PC, I think we'd be seeing much more "progress" in game develepment.
Games have to be held back and dumbed down to work on all three platforms...probably to such an extent that developers figure."since we're really making this to run on the X-Box and PS2...why even bother with the PC? Everyone's got a console."
Thanks X-Box and PS2

It's no coincedence that Starforce came into existence because of the massive loses of Piracy. Some Big Title games have hit the net before they are even released to the stores.
The drawback to this as well is that the honest people who buy games are treated insome cases as if they too are criminals by asking them to prove they own the game everytime they want to play, which becomes a turnoff for alot of gamers, me included.
That's one of the big reasons for a push towards Digital Distribution.
Piracy is also a problem for consoles but it takes more effort and potentially ruining your hardware in the process.Comment

Honestly I don't think it's either, it depends more upon the specific gamer. Myself, I think graphics are highly overrated. Gameplay is king, if that's not there all the pretty pictures are worthless.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Do you think PC gaming is making a comeback?
Originally posted by RodsterI gotta disagree with that statement. What's holding back PC developement is "PIRACY". John Carmack feels the same way, watch his interview on Eurogamer TV.Carmack should worry more about making good games then selling engines and using their games as showcases. Not many bigger tools than him IMO. Never understood the idol worship.
