Thoughts on Miscrosoft abandoning XBOX. Sony supporting PS2 into 2007

How many are kind of upset that Microsoft has left the XBOX for dead?

I understand that MS wants to fully support the XBOX360 + they were and still are losing money on each XBOX being sold to this day. From their standpoint I can see why they have left it for dead, but why not support this thing for 1 year after the release of the 360?

The nails in the coffin:

1-No more exclusive titles for the XBOX developed by MS.
2-3rd Party titles were cancelled for the XBOX.
3-Official XBOX accessories have been also discontinued and near impossible to find, especially HD Pack.
4-Best Buy even stopped getting shipments of XBOX1 bundles with Forza.

Doesn't bother me at all, when a new system releases, I have no interest in the old one. I got rid of my Xbox and haven't missed it at all.

I play my xbox more than i do my 360, mainly becuase of NFL 2k5, TOCA 3 and Winning Eleven. I just havent found a game yet to keep me coming back to playing my 360.

I play my xbox more than i do my 360, mainly becuase of NFL 2k5, TOCA 3 and Winning Eleven. I just havent found a game yet to keep me coming back to playing my 360.

Well, Winning Eleven is backwards compatible. For me, I own a PS2, so every other game I can play on my PS2, but if you don't have that option, I can totally understand.

Only reason I still have my Xbox is for MVP, probably play them both equally, to be honest.

Other than MVP I really don't care for any Xbox games...if a game is on both and interests me I'll get it for the 360

Same here, I've been playing the crap out of my Xbox. Right now I'm playing, The Godfather, Halo, and The Warriors.

Well, I honestly don't feel that bad about the XBOX Being abandoned only because the 360 is getting played enough. I don't really mind the PS2 having games still cause I'm still increasing my library for it. I see it as a win win situation where I can utilize my PS2 to the fullest and still get some quality out of my XBOX 360. I personally desire to get a couple of these new releases on a BC list sooner so I don't miss a beat. That would be sweet. I kind of got over the whole abandoning the XBOX thing. I just hope that the 50 games they're updating soon will be quality games that I've been longing to play........

It's been 2 months and that BC list doesn't appear to be growing. How sad is it that 5 months have gone by and we only had 3 games added to the list.

Rod, when I bought my XBOX back in Janauary I bought a refurbished one and it came with the Samsung drive. I got rather lucky.

If I didn't have a 360, I'd be cool because I'd know that I should/could upgrade by next year (after price drop) and know that I'd have plenty to play until then. Live really helps with replay value BTW.

But... since I have a 360... I couldn't really give a flyin' flip.

It's done now, I really don't care anymore. But I think MS is making a mistake, they could of sold xbox's to people who couldn't find the 360 and stopped the ps2 a bit

thing is people are not unsatisfied with current gen or prior games, otherwise people wouldn't buy ds/psp's. so they are missing out on a pretty big market.

I just bought another XBOX so that if my old XBOX breaks, there is a replacement available. The best games are still on the XBOX IMO. Eventually the quality of the next generation games will improve and the XBOX will not be needed, but that could be years from now. I do however enjoy NBA 2K6 XBOX 360.

If you think about it.... isn't it about the same amount of time of support of current gen systems by both companies...

the Xbox 360 was released a whole year ahead of the PS3. So calender wise it will always be a year ahead on business strategies. The PS3 will be abondoning the PS2 in about the same amount of time as the 360 its just a year behind because it was released a year behind. So its not an issue really cause I garuntee that the PS2 lineup will be limited around this time next year as a way to start forcing gamers to move foward to next gen gaming same as the Xbox.
