If you guys get it this morning please post some impressions. My brother is picking up my copy today while I'm stuck at work. Work always seems to get in the way of poker, lol.

If anyone has got the game could you please post some of your impressions. I have WTP 2k6 and would like to know if it is better or worse as I am thinking of buying it. IGN gave it a 4.8 but I usually don't go by what they say, user reviews are more reliable.

I got it for PC... it's not the best game ever but I can see myself playing it quite a lot. The fact that it's got a career mode is pretty sweet.

Is the AI fairly good or do they make bonehead plays and do things that they shouldn't?

My issue is that they seem to have supermagnets in the table, because I got beat by consecutive pocket aces one time.

But it's not bad. I'd love to play it online.

I've done a 180 on this game, I'm really enjoying it now.

                  Re: stacked poker game....

i like it, a lot. I have the PC version and I would say that it's much better than WPT and WSOP for XBOX. I haven't play WCP. IGN's score is very unfair and you can tell that they didn't play the game much at all. It's not easy like they say. If you enjoy Hold 'Em, I would buy it. It's only $30.

If we do find problems, the PC version will be patched as well. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm playing the game at 1280 X 1024 on a Radeon 9600 XT video card and it looks pretty nice especially for a first effort.

Ever feel cheated? Like in WSOP where they'll call an all in on pocket kings or aces with stuff like a 9-4,8-2 off suit and end up winning.

it's based on the poki AI, developed by some smart folk at the University of Alberta, nad is among the leading poker AI in the world. This is the AI that is in the highly acclaimed Poker Academy software, which is really quite excellent.

This is the only poker game I've actually looked forward to. Hope to have my hands on it shortly.

Sheesh, I'm not much of a tournament player, but the IGN PC reviewers have no idea what they're talking about. Early in a tournament when blinds are low, you do NOT want to see a lot of flops.

I think maybe he meant more hands are playable. If you start with 1000 chips are in the small blind when the big is 30,6/10 people have called and there hasn't been a raise throwing the extra 15 in with say a 4-5 suited is ok.

that wasn't what he said though. He criticised the AI opponents for folding too much in the early rounds when the blinds are small. While some people get away with playing a ton of hands preflop (Gus Hanson), he's among the best players post-flop in the world. It's inexperienced people trying to emulate the loose style that make most games so profitable.

Seeing cheap flops with mediocre hands will put you in too many marginal situations after the flop where you can easily cripple your stack. These marginal situations aren't where you want to be early in a tournament.

I've totally changed my mind after playing the game all day. At first I was underwhelmed by the game but the more I play it the more I'm really liking the game. It just feels like real poker and the cpu ai is awesome. I'm starting to figure the different types of player personalities at the table. Sometimes the ai players have totally thrown me off and confused me as to what they had in the hole based on their pre and post flop play. This game just feels like the most realistic poker game I've played thus far. Give it some time like I did, don't buy in to the negative ign review and you'll end up loving the game too.

i agree. it's wonderful. IGN is terrible. You can tell that the reviewer knows nothing about tournament poker. The game is not easy at all, they also said that the only challenge is on the hardest level which is BS. The only problem I have with it, is that I wish the presentation was better.

I played some online last night and it was very enjoyable. The AI will figure you out very quickly and Daniel's advice during the game is very helpful if you know what he is talking about and understand why he is making those decisions. The is the smartest poker game available. I also have no problem seeing the suits on the cards unlike the reviewer.

I give it an 8/10 easily.
