    360 died

Wow i had no problems, then this morning my MLB 2k6 froze..didnt think anything about it.

I went to play MLB again and the red lights are on..

Is there anyway to troubleshoot it, or see if i can fix it...Or is it officially dead

ok, i'm officially starting to get worried now. too many 360's dying recently...i thought i'd be safe after making it thru the initial wave....ugh....is it just inevitable that our 360 is going to die?

            Re: 360 died

I am so concerned about my 360 dying that I limit how may hours I play in a day. It's unfortunate that this is happening but I am confident that the powers that be will put a stop to this, or at least lessen the frequency.

he probably got it at EBGames or Gamestop...they are very nice at handling this stuff and I was allowed to keep my harddrive as well all I did was a trade of harddrives...they kept the new one and I kept mine.

What are the concerns about ventilation? Any special steps that need to be taken with this system? I have my old xbox sitting out in the open on top of a DVD player, nothing on top of the xbox.

I bought a 3 year warranty at Future Shop (in Canada) for $90. I'm not worried at all.

If I have any problems, they'll replace it. Their warranty program worked well when my CD-Writer died on me (about 7 years ago). I went in, told them it died, and they replaced it with a CD-Writer of equal value. No questions asked.

that should be fine, its just a lot of people put them on carpets and it really messes it up.

seriously eh? i had a 3 year warrenty on my older toshiba laptop and they would take it in for 3 mths at a time at least, and it would always return back just as bad (technical stuff, not software)

theeeen, i bought my car deck there, it didnt work well, i returned it, they wouldnt exchange it (a friggin new product), and then they kept it for SIX MONTHS and it came back BROKEN (the actually player.. it looked like it dropped it on the floor and played soccer with it)... anyways, i eventually got a new one after i threatened to take them to court... but this took over 7 mths to finalize.... never again have i bought anything at FS

if i can, i buy gaming at walmart, they are awsum with returns even without a receipt

anyways, thats my suggestion to anyone with a broken box... take it in to walmart, say u dont have the receipt but its broken and thus u need to exchange it for the same product, and for sure they'll pull it off

I also think many people have it inside an entertainment center too, which cuts down airflow. I used to have my consoles in there too and they never really got hot.

For my 360, I made the hole in the back of my entertainemet center about 3 times as big as it was and I always play with both doors open. I also attached an Intercooler to my 360 and now it doesn't even run hot at all. Still, all these reports of 360s working fine for like 6 months and then dying with no prior warning make me want to go the safer route and buy an extended warranty even though that's something I'm normally fundamentally against.
