power source for playing in the car

Family will be traveling on a couple trips this summer, and i was hoping to take the 360 . previously have taken the xbox without difficulties.

i hooked up the 360 with 13" tv using 400 w inverter thru the cig lighter and ran good for about 5-10 min then got low amp warning sound., and turned off the 360.

tried again using a 7" dvd player. same results.

400 w should power either arrangement. amperage thru the cig lighter doesnt seem to be able to handle the 360.

are there any solutions ? i know higher amp inverters connect directly to battery terminals, using cables, but is there a way to safely run these inside your vehicle and use while moving?

any other portable power sources that would handle power and last several hours at a time? thx in advance.

edit- I think it is a low VOLTAGE alarm, not amperage

The 360 must be an amps monster then.
I would not chance it on a trip....especially with the family.

You can do what I do and just update your PS2 library. Easiest way to enjoy yourself on the real. I definitely hate that my car can't support the 360. We ride in a big econoline van too. Would have loved to play a couple of 12 minute quarters with my brothers or by myself. I might have to check out that car that has the system directly hooked up. However, won't it kind of burn the gas faster??

The 360 wouldn't be running off gas....just the car battery.

My guess is the 360 requires too much juice from just the car battery (which ini turn is supplying power into the cig lighter).

Actually my brother tried the same thing and kept blowing fuses so they went to Best Buy. I think it takes a 3000 watt converter but that will be almost as much as the console itself. I believe he said upwards of 250-300. Plus they also have to hard wire that to the battery directly. Not very cost effective so he just has the PSP and his friends xbox no his trip.

I heard you have to use an AC inverter to power the 360. It would also be a good idea to have a yellow top optima battery to have all these electronics on at the sametime
