    360 Advice

I will be purchasing a 360 in the next few weeks, just before the release of NCAA 2007. So, I'm asking you guys...what do I need to get?

What packages? What controllers? Where to buy? Game(s)? Etc. etc. etc.

I really don't know that much about 360 to be honest, so I need all the advice I can get.

I just got the premium system and an extra wireless controller. I also bought the 'Play & Charge' kit for my controllers. GRAW is an amazing FPS if you like those types of games. The XBL Marketplace would prob be enough to tide you over til NCAA comes out. You can just download all the demos that are available and see for yourself if there are any games you need to buy.

Obvioulsy the premium package. After that I would get the plug n play kit unless you have another source of charging "AA" batteries. With NCAA you must get a mem card and the transfer kit for the rosters. As for other games well that depends on what you like. Also get the extended warranty from either MS or Gamestop/EB/Best Buy.

Where to buy depends on what you are looking to use for payment. If you want to do trade-ins and not wait on EBAY then GS or EB. Every 4 games you trade in gets you an extra $10 in store credit. If you go EBAY or dont get rid of any of your games yo already own, then check out who has what bundles packaged the week you will be buying.

Get yourself the 360 Premium. DO NOT buy a store warranty. Call 1-800-4myxbox & purchase an Extended Warranty from Microsoft. ($60.00 for 2 years) Also go get that extra Extra Wireless Controller.

If you already have Re-chargable Batteries, you should be good. Check them, to see how many NIMH they are. This is important. The higher the NIMH the longer lasting the battery. I believe the highest out right now is 2500.

IMO your better off getting Re-Chargable Batteries with the Charger, than the Charge & Play Kit. They have 15 minute Re-Chargable Chargers that come with batteries. ($25.00-$35.00)

As for games.... GRAW is a gr-8 game. Condemned is also a gr-8 game.

As far as recharging you batteries. I would say buy this.

I have one and it not only comes with a battery unlike the play and charge kit, you don't have to leave your 360 on to charge the batteries.

Your 360 isn't really on with the Play and Charge kit, it's more like in a standby mode and will turn itself off when the controller is done charging.

I'd say memory card, transfer kit, play and charge kit for your accessories.

If you like single player FPS than Call of Duty 2. Multiplayer than Ghost Reacon: Advanced Warfighter.

Oblivion is fun and addicting if you like rpgs.

I shut my 360 off with the play and charge kit and it still charges it (the red charge light on the kit stays on), so you don't need to leave it on. I believe you can also plug it your PC and charge it that way, too.

As far as what games to get, the beauty of the Marketplace is that you can go in, download a bunch of demos, play them, and then decide for yourself what you like. You can also watch a bunch of trailers. So, it's great because you don't even need to buy any games with the system at first. Just take the 360 home, hook it up, and go into the Marketplace and start playing.

Why no store warranty? I had one at Gamestop and had no hassels. My launch 360 failed and I was able to exchange it for a brand new one with no problems. With the way MS has been sending refurbished units under the extended warranty, I would rather have a store warranty and get a new one. I had a Best Buy store warranty for my original XBOX and was able to exchange it for a brand new one even though the old one still worked (but had occassional DDE's). But I do think each warranty has its advatages. Microsoft's is for 2 years, whereas you have to renew a store warranty each time you take advantage of it.

My experiences with Store Warranties (Best Buy& CC) have been terrible. I would rather deal with the Manufacturer themselves, then 3rd party, but that's just me..

I paid for the Best Buy warranty. I've never done that before, but it really was a good deal. If I remember right it was somewhere between $50-60. It was for 2 years as well. I like that better than Microsofts because I can just go to Best Buy get a new one and leave the store with a new one. With MS, you have to mail them yours and then wait...

I would double check that.... My understanding is you have to mail your console to them also. @ least that's how it is in NYC...

You are supposed to mail in warranties for Best Buy, but for big ticket items, they take it back at the store. The 360 is a big ticket item, you'd have no problems taking it back and using your warranty there.

I did. When I bought it, I specifically asked them that if something goes wrong can I just bring my broken one to the store and trade it for another one. I clarified it a few times and they stated every time that is the way it works.

Only reason I got it this time is because I had 2 original Xboxes crap out on me, so I didn't want to take any chances with the 360.

Either go to Sam's club or browse to their website and get their package. You get the premium package, an extra wireless controller and a play and charge kit for $450. Two of my friends have gotten that package and I suggest anyone looking to get a 360 go that route.
