    360 Ventilation

I just want to run through my setup and see if it should be ok.

I'm scared to death it's going to overheat and crap out on me. I just opened it and have it all hooked up...

Right now I've basically got the XBOX BOX that it came in (temp until I find something else), sitting on the floor - because it's carpet. I heard you shouldn't put the 360 on a carpet. I then have the 360 Horizontally on top of the box, so the back and sides are open to air. I then have the GARGANTUAN power supply sitting beside it, on the carpet - where it should be ok to get air.

It's about a foot clear at the back (to the wall), and wide open on the right side, and about 3-4 inches to the left side.

I just want to check that this is a decent setup for it.

Thanks. Sorry if it gets asked a lot. But I really don't want to be another classic story that I seem to hear so often

    Re: 360 Ventilation

I would put the power brick on something other than a carpet. I would also find another spot for the 360 where it will be more stable. Keep in mind it will vibrate some with the CD spinning and fans blowing. Also remember that the cardboard box will give from the weight of the system. Keep that in mind.

I've mentioned this in the past. My 360 has been flawless and it's a launch system. I have it on a table laying sideways. I bought 6 school erasers from Office Depot. I placed one on each corner of the 360 so as to raise it a little and give it more breating room. I also placed an eraser on each side of the power supply and raised it as well.

For added protection I purchased from EBGames the Nyko 360 Intercooler. The system runs great and i've never had a problem.

I have it horizontally on a table with the brick on the carpet.

Mine has been fine, no problems.

I live in SW Florida 3 blocks from the beach. My dust bunnies are no different than yours, but like you I clean all my electronics so dust isn't a problem.

Launch console in a entertainment center . Did nothing special and it works great . I think alot of people make up these overheating problems to sway people from buying the 360 . Now i did not say all people but alot .
